Tried to find the name of the nursing homes that provides trainingvia google...couldn't find...perhaps call the arizona board of nursing. Exams are done by D& S diversified....go to hdmaster.com....there are test sites and dates listed.

There is a place called (westside) Cactus Wren, MedStar, The Nelson Academy, EMCC and other community colleges, a couple nursing homes in the west valley offer it as well. Good luck, tell us who you find and how it goes!

I need help and advice on how to get back into the medical field after taking 10 years off to run my own business. The economy has forced me to make some new changes in my career. I used to be a phlebotomist (not certified, wasn't offered at the time I worked in the field) I have a total of 5 years phleb exp having worked in hospitals, clinics and a plasma center. I also was certified as as an EMT in 1994. I'm currently enrolled in a CNA course that I start next week. I did so in hopes that getting some current medical training would help me get back into the field. Can anyone tell me the difference in pay for CNA's/ Phlebs/ER Techs/Patient care techs? I want to leave my options open and it is my goal to work at the hospitals again. Any input regarding pay, hours, job experience, on the job training offered, and orientations offered at hospitals would be a great help! I live in the West valley of Phoenix and my ultimate goal is to work for Banner in the west valley either clinic or hospital. Thanks in advance for your insight! LovinLife

Just in case anyone is looking currently, on the west side there is the community colleges who offer CNA and also MedStar and The Nelson Academy. The Nelson academy is offering it on weekends that best suit my schedule plus they are the cheapest. $800) I believe Med Star is more expensive by like 600$ but may have a few things included in their cost such as some of the supplies. I am enrolled at Nelson Academy and will let you know what I think of the program...so far so good! Does ne one know the education difference or hiring preferences when it comes to the accredited community college programs and other programs? My impression is that we all get to sit for the state boards so why not go with the cheaper program that offers weekends which works out best for me right now.
