  1. Well I can tell you first hand it definitely can be done. I am in one of the MSN programs at UC right now. I am a married, mother of 3 little ones and I also work full time as a 0.9 FTE. My program is also full time including clinicals which I actually travel to cincinnati for. If you have a great support system and an understanding family it can be done. People ask me all the time how I do it and honestly I'm not sure. I think its just one of those things that you just do it and get through it. The good thing is that its not forever, and its only 2 years. Best of luck in your decision.
  2. I just recently had this same exact dilemma. I applied and was hired into both the Pediatric CICU and the PICU. I was COMPLETELY torn and didn't know which path to take. Prior to transferring I was working in the NICU and was just ready to learn more and see more. I decided to take the PICU job and I honestly don't have any regrets. Every time I go to work I learn something new and I get to see such a variety of diagnoses anything from gun shots, car accidents, head injuries to sepsis and DIC. I have spoke to other nurses in the CICU and they feel that their practice is very limited because their practice is so specialized. I am learning so much and love the decision I made. Good Luck to you!!
  3. This is my first post and I need some help. I plan on applying to CRNA school this fall. I have worked in a level III NICU for nearly 3 years at level where we take care of some seriously sick infants (vents, HFOV, ECMO, dialysis, hemodynamic reg, multiple drips/titirations etc...). I love the unit but I thought it might look better to expand my knowledge and switch units. I was very recently offered a position in both the Pediatric ICU and the Pediatric CICU. Our hospital is a trauma center and we see everything you can imagine in the PICU and the CICU manages any cardiac issue such as open heart, heart transplants, defects repair and disease management. I really want to make the best decision. I would like to know if the CICU or PICU would best benefit me for admission and preparation for CRNA school. Thanks for your help. I REALLY need it :)!!!
