All About Staffing is an in-house nursing resource pool for HCA hospitals. HCA has lots of hospitals mostly in Florida and Texas. However, HCA has known reputation for being very cheap and usually only provide bare min supplies for staff. I know many nurses who will not work for HCA hospitals because they cut so many corners to improve profit margins and to offset huge amounts of fines/penalties from largest medical recovery by government in history - I belive final settlement for Medicare and other fraud was close to 2 billion dollars. That being said....allaboutstaffing will usually pay little more than rest because of HCA reputation.

I worked travel assignment at JFK in summer of 2008. Before that there were many horror stories but my recruiter assured me that they didnt "kill there travel nurses" anymore and there was some corporate restructuring. I found the Critical Care ICU to be excellent. They took me in as their own. The ICU on 4th floor felt distant and everyone seemed so far apart. JFK has resonably high level of acuity. Being from Northeast.....I have worked several of south florida hospitals...and it really doesnt matter where you work...they just are not known for good health care. The doctors expect the nurses to hand write their oders for them (i didnt even know hand written orders existed anymore until traveling to florida). The administrations operate with bare bones budgets because the economy in florida for hospitals is essentially non existant from May till about Oct (about 5 months -even the staff get sent home in summer). So dont focus so much on a single hospital but just accept that florida is about 10-15 years behind California and Northeast. Do it for few months but dont stay too long or you'll become too embedded in grossly outdated model.
