I'm an ED RN of 8 years, looking to leave MI and find my forever home via travel nursing. I just sold my house (eek!) and me, my significant other of 20+ years, and our daughter are ready to minimize and go explore the world. Ultimately we would love to live in CA, but obtaining this license has been a pain in the rump! MI is not a compact state, but I am currently right on the WI border and WI is a compact state. I let my WI license lapse years ago because I had not been using it. I also hold a FL license. However, I recently learned that I have to be a resident of the state I hold my license in to qualify for a multi-state license. Is this accurate? I want to get away from the cold snowy north, my mother in law lives in FL, and I wouldn't mind spending some time in the sunshine state. What do you think about this scenario - I use my mother in law's address as my permanent residence address, get a FL driver's license and voter registration, and then qualify for multi state licensure? Can I use this as my permanent tax home? Or am I off my rocker? P.S. This is a brand new way of living we are embarking on so I will take any and all advice from ye seasoned travelers!
