wow... that makes me feel a WHOLE lot better lol. i thought it was much more involved. so being one of the first ones to get it in is probably more likely than i thought. with everything thats happening, not getting into Fall 2011 would create a ridiculous amount of hurdles. you already applied right? did you get a letter yet??

im curious about the application process at CSCC. i read that you turned your application at 9:00:04 lol. are you waiting to hit 'Enter' right at 9am or are you filling out the application like a crazy person with insane typing skills?? after looking at all the local options as well as out of state, getting into CSCC would be the best and if i can secure that by being fast, id love to know how you did it.

i just checked out Chamberlain and the tuition is the same as if i were to do it in my home state of Florida (around $7500 or so) so Chamberlain is an option for me. my only thing would be to ensure that the credits would transfer so i can get my BSN somewhere else. anyone ever been to Chamberlain or transferred from there?? i need all the help i can get. im thinking of just going home...

i understand better now. thank you for clearing it up for me. i thought this was for a class that had already been accepted and thats the part thats wasnt communicated properly. when i spoke with that person, dates were never mentioned and i guess its my fault for assuming. my mistake. however, that still means that there wont be a spring class to get into if you don't get into Fall 2011. you are likely to wait until the next fall to get into the program. unless they decide to make any other changes about the enrollment periods with the new semesters, that still leaves the same issue i brought up before about having to wait. so if im understanding you correctly, they arent accepting a class during the switch because the timing would be off. i get that. what i dont get is whether or not this a permanent change or just a temporary one while the switch is happening. if its ongoing, then it goes from 2 enrollment periods to one. not good lol. if its temporary, then still, the people who have to apply in January for the Fall class of 2011(me) have no back up plan because there is no spring enrollment to get into. we (I) would have to wait until the Fall of 2012 to even start! i feel like im back where i started from lol.

this is frustrating. i cant imagine why all this information is so inconsistent within the same department. i was only telling what i was told and already, within a week, ive heard contradicting stories. i talked to my NURC teacher today about all this and her response was to have a back up plan. she said dont not apply to the program but keep your options open. as far as this ----- person is concerned, i dont know what to say to that. i plan on talking to my advisor again and telling her all of this.

i hope im wrong. i really do. i cant imagine being in your situation. i think the people who have to wait and reapply have it tough but you... lol youre in a whole new category. again, i hope im wrong and we both get in and become nurses. im just not sure how the switch is going to play out for us.

i know exactly what youre saying. i think there is a lot to be cleared up and i plan on asking my NURC professor when i get back to class on Monday. i dont wanna tell her whole name in this particular medium lol; shes a nursing advisor. but youre right, there is a lot thats happening right now and i think the biggest thing is this upcoming switch from quarters to semesters that has all this up in the air. any new information you get concerning this, id love to hear it and ill certainly do the same.

ok there are a few things to clear up here. 1. the BSN program, for me, would be just easier to transfer into since im starting at the beginning of my nursing education. the difference would be my grades. if i am strong academically, which i am, then the BSN transfer option could suit me better because i wouldnt have to lose any momentum in my pursuit of my degree AND again, i would finish with a BSN before completing and ADN. 2. the wait list at CSCC IS two years because they arent accepting a spring class in 2011. the school will be switching from quarters to semesters in 2012 and they dont want anyone in the program and actively taking classes while that switch is happening. so, if i apply and January, which is the plan, and dont get in, i will have to wait until the NEXT January to be accepted into the following fall. how do i know this?? because i talked with the nursing advisor less than a week ago about what i posted here and these are the suggestions and ideas that she told me. 3. i know that money is an issue. right now, it is for everyone and im not exempt in any way. my thought on the matter would be the ability to get done and start working sooner with the BSN to pay off whatever loans i have to. i dont mind taking out loans for my education as i believe its an investment. would it be more expensive?? sure. am i willing to pay for it?? absolutely. my issue isnt with the money as much as it is the timing in which id be able to pay that stuff off. with all that said, my friend who has been a nurse for 15 years suggests that its better to wait and do the ADN because the practical training is better. she also mentioned that if i have to wait, to just take the classes that i would need to complete my BSN in the meantime and not stop going to school. im not sure why but i hadnt thought of that before lol. since my eventual goal is to become a PA, getting a BSN has to happen, regardless. i just didnt want to lose any steam in my pursuit, you know?? CSCC has nothing but a stellar reputation and id love to be in the program, im just considering my odds. im still going to apply and everything, i just think that having a solid plan B wouldnt be a bad thing.

i totally understand. i too am going for the nursing program at CSCC but i know that the waitlist is too long. i cant imagine waiting 2 years for a 2 year degree. i plan on transferring. the BSN over the ADN is certainly more valuable considering the time factor.

thanks for the response. does that mean i go to FL to take and pass the test or is there something more i needed to do? it would be nothing for me to travel home for a couple days to take a test if that would ensure my Florida license instead of paying and waiting for two.

hey everyone! im a student at a community college in Ohio and im in pursuit of my ADN. im originally from Florida and would like to go back sometime in the near future as a new grad. i have a few questions and i hope you all can help me out. 1) if i take the classes in Ohio, can i take the test(s) in Florida and become licensed in Florida or would it not work that way? i ask this because ive read other posts on here about the Ohio Board of Nursing and they dont seem very efficient when it comes to the paperwork. in my mind, i thought that doing everything here (classes and what not) and then finalizing everything in Florida would bypass a lot of the wait and the headache, especially since i was going to move back anyway. 2) is this something that is possible? if so, can you tell me the steps or what i need to do to make it happen? ive been looking at the Board of Nursing in Florida and as i understand it, to be licensed in both states (Ohio and Florida) is merely paperwork and $$$. in view of that, again, any insight would be great. im a real planner as you can imagine and i like knowing everything and weigh it out before i make a move (typical Libra lol). thank you for your time, everyone. i really appreciate it.
