I am taking A&P II right now and the instructor is relying on us to teach ourselves which makes it harder. The hardest chapter for me so far has been the respiratory system and the gas exchanges. I use a program called Welcome to myAP!. It has helped me. Good luck

I am finishing my pre-reqs but a question I have it do the hospital you do your clinicals at not offer a new graduate student a job?

If you don't mind, what is the price and duration? KSU is 16 months and between $17-20k for the program. GSU would be easier for me also, I live outside Douglasville. Thanks.

Hi ATLbubbles, I live outside ATL and I am working on my pre-reqs. Did you only apply to GSU? I will by applying to the accelerated BSN program at KSU but I didn't know if I should apply at GSU as well. I should be able to apply Jan 31 to KSU. Did you consider KSU or was GSU your first choice?

kschenz, Another corporate fellow. I was at a corporate job then moved to a medium size class and it just is NOT REWARDING at all!!!!! I agree with you making other people money and at the end of the day what have you accomplished, the same thing you did before. I do know when I decided to return to school I am full speed ahead and I have asked my husband to hold on with me!!

Wow, where to start... I fell into an accounting position after high school and kept in that field for 17 yrs. I thought I wanted to become a CPA. One day I went to work with my mom (she was a CRNA), it was AWESOME!!!! I watched the nurses, and other personnel in the operating room dance around (figuratively). I wanted to be a surgical technician. I came back home and started surgical tech school and completed it in a year. I worked for a couple of years as a surgical tech but they found out I had accounting experience and wanted me to start ordering supplies for the whole operating suite. We were having financial troubles and I could make more money quicker if I returned to Accounting, so back I went. While attending Surgical Tech school I so wanted to be a nurse but it was more schooling. I have been back in the accounting field for 6 yrs now and have felt like something is missing. I have done a lot of soul searching and found that I miss getting my nursing degree. I took a week off for jury duty and when I returned to work I decided I would complete my pre-reqs and apply to an Acclerated BSN program. I got my Bachelors in Accounting online and I could apply to the accelerated program. My husband is very supportive!!! He knows that I have been completed different and upbeat since deciding to go to nursing school. I have told my mother but have been very reluctant to let other family or co-workers know. I still have a student loan for my online degree and my daughter is completing her degree also. My other family members would tell me I am too old to change my career now. My co-workers tell me that due to the current situation with the job shortages it would not be a viable option to go to nursing school, hense, that is why I have not been able to say anything to them. I am soaking a bunch of information in, I am trying to finish 4 pre-reqs in 3 quarters, while registering late. I miss talking to people, getting to know them, helping them, getting out and learning, I have always been a "professional student". I love learning and I know nursing is constantly learning. If feels so right but I have numerous hurdles to scale over. Thanks for reading!!

I have been looking for an Accelerated BSN program here in Georgia for the past week. There are 6 schools that I have found: Emory University (Atlanta, GA) GA State College & University (Milledgeville, GA) GA Southwestern State University (Americus, GA) GA State University (Atlanta, GA) Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA) Valdosta State University (Valdosta, GA) I know Emory, GA State University and Kennesaw State University require you already have one degree with the Accelerated BSN program. KSU and GA State I think have a 16 month program. I hope this helps someone.

I am having trouble not feeling selfish about my decision to return to school. I already have a student loan from my online accounting degree and one for our daughter. The only thing I am thinking about is getting a job that will pay back my student loan for me for a contract period of time.

I am so glad this post is out here. I am 40 and returning for a second Bachelor's degree but third degree all together. One degree in accounting, the second degree in Surgical Technology and a third try is a charm. I always wanted to be a nurse but LIFE seem to be a bit more interesting than I thought (not necessarily got in the way). I have a 20 & 13 yr old. I have half of my pre-requisites done and hope to have the rest done by Jan 31, 2011. My mother calls me a professional student-I love learning and it is definitely different being in class with younger students!! I look forward to reading the articles and blogging!! Tiffany:)
