  1. Hi everyone! My name is Leah and I'm 18 years old. I got certified a couple weeks ago and I don't know where to begin! I'm also a pre-nursing student so I start school again in a month. I have never applied for a job before. I have a resume and I know one or two nursing homes I want to apply to. One says to send in a resume, the other has an application. My teacher said to wear my scrubs and hand them in. I don't know what shifts I want. Anyways, I'm a little lost so any tips will be helpful! Thanks, Leah
  2. I am only 18. How do I build up my resume with very little health care experience? Pre-Nursing/EMT/Fire class in high school, participated as EMT in earthquake drill, field trip to care center and veterinary hospital, Anatomy & Physiology in high school Side note - I went to a university for 1 semester, should I put that in my resume? I was a Pre-Nursing major and was on the Dean's list and Nursing Club and Student Health Advisory Committee (volunteered at H1N1 vaccine clinics and HIV testing) Also, how do I tie in softball to health care? I am an umpire and work at the snackbar and have played for many many years. It is my only work experience besides being a receptionist at a real estate office. Any advice would be very helpful! I am graduating CNA soon and I need to spice up my resume! Any general tips will help too. :redbeathe
  3. Thanks! I love the class, but 8 hours is sooo long to be sitting in a classroom! Can't wait until clinicals! I felt weird because I didn't take many notes, but I think you're right. It's not that kind of class.
  4. Hi all, I'm 18, my CNA class starts tomorrow at my hometown's adult school. I was at a university first semester but that didn't work out. Don't worry, going to community college to finish prerequisites before applying to CSU BSN programs! Anyways, the class is Tuesday - Thursday 8:00AM - 4:30 PM for 10 weeks. Any advice will help! :redbeathe
  5. Wow!!! That was my first allnurses post and you guys are awesome! I will definitely be coming on here more often with more questions. It looks like I will keep my personal stuff in my car. I'm sure my instructor can tell me more, but keep the tips coming!
  6. My CNA class starts next week and I remember my instructor saying at orientation to not bring a purse. I'm one of those people that likes to keep everything with me to feel comfortable. Do CNA's have lockers where I can keep a backpack? Where do I keep my lunch box? Any advice will be helpful.
