  1. Hi, Im also a new RN at a transplant unit and I just finished my 4 weeks. I have 2 more weeks to go..... this week which is nights and next week. I am sooo scared but at the same time relieved because my preceptor is driving me crazy. She is a little impatient and it's hard to follow her because she goes so fast and talks super fast. How did or do you feel going in on your own? Im scared ..........:imbar hee hee hee..... Thanks, Li
  2. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the Congrat's! I start working at UCSF on Monday. Im so excited.... I don't know how to change my loggin name?!?! Help! Thanks again for listening... Lisa
  3. Thanks for the wishes Ari RN.... I didn't tell anyone about taking the test on monday. But I found out that I PASSED!!!! Now I have good news to tell everyone.... Thanks for listening....
  4. Oh my gosh.... Im jumpping up and down right now because I just saw my name in the website that I passed! It was my 2nd time and I went to 225. I just want to thank everyone for their support during the time I failed the first time. Chis- at- lucus.... if your out there thank you, you were a great moral support. I know now why it wasn't my time then.... For those of you out there about to take the NCLEX..... keep your faith. Oh... my gosh... I can't believe it!:rotfl: Nobody knows I went to take the boards last monday, so I have to tell everyone the great news today. I even worked three days in a row with a double shift right before the exam. But I wanted it so bad that in those three day I did about 900 question/answer (but that wasn't a good idea, I was just short in money). I studied only from Saunders, Kaplan and springhouse. Saunders was the best though.... Thanks for listening....... Lisa (California) oh yah... UCSF here I come!
  5. Hi, I just took my NCLEX-RN on Monday (9/27). I am going crazy waiting for the results. I can't remember where I stopped, cuz I suddenly was on a roll answering questions. What I do know is that I stopped around 225 before it shut-off. Is this bad? When it shut off I felt a bit disoriented but I also felt like I did ok because I felt I was answering the last questions right. I don't see my name yet on the Ca. BRN so now im thinking I failed. Help!
  6. Im going to be taking the NCLEX at the end of June. I work to support myself but I have been studying at least 100 questions a day and reviewing each question after taking the test. I mostly studied from the Saunders book/CD and taking the online course with NCSBN and their questions are pretty similar. I would score between 70-75 % out of a hundred so far, but trying hard to score higher, and that scares me. I mostly have trouble with medication questions. My question is how do you know if your ready to take the test? At what point can you feel that you studied all you can and know your ready to take the exam. Im afraid I may freeze up and forget everything....Yicks! Anyone have advice? Thank you in advance.
  7. Oh... good then I think you should fight for what you truely believe in. There definately isn't any harm to it. Dont get me wrong .... I believe mistakes do happen....
  8. Im not sure but I think it's pretty hard to challenge a computer based result. I think it's getting harder because they want to ensure safety as a begining nurse. My problem the first time was I came in there really nervous and suddenly I could not put things together. What Im doing this time around is going back really understanding the theory base of each diease process, doing care plans, ect. and of course lots of answer/questions from review books. Saunders seem to be the best Iv'e seen. Especially with the test getting harder Im gonna study even harder. I figure if I really understand the thoery of it and apply it to the questions on the review books I should be ok. Along with lots and lots of preyer.... A person I work with is a forienger and she passed the first time with 75 and she studied intencely for only 2 weeks. I was so embaressed because I recieved education here with a BSN and didn't pass. My results showed I was above passing in all areas but 3, pharm. was always my problem because I cant seem to memorize those dam meds. Anyone with any suggestions?!?! Then again a forgien doctor taking the NCLEX didn't pass either so I didn't feel so bad, she thought the test was so indirect and that you really have to apply critical thinking to it. So don't feel so bad...We can do this...I just means we need keep trying harder, and not waste time thinking of "I should have..." "I could have..." just try harder and give it your all. That will tell how much you really want it.
  9. Wow isn't that out of the scope of your practice? Iv'e work as CNA throughout nursing school and I know that's out of our scope of practice. Is it different in every state?!?! The patient is fine so I wouldn't worry... If theres good documentation to back yourself you should be OK.
  10. You can check the website at ca.brn.gov.....click on to license verification and just type your name. If it shows up then your licence # will show up with RN on it. My friends had theirs show up in 2-3 days after taking it, and recieved their licence within a week. Im sure you passed.... 75 is better than me because I went all the way to 265 and the results showed I almost passed in a 3 places, all the rest was above passing. Good Luck.... And let me the good news...
  11. Yes there is such accommodations. There are alot of other paper work you need which you can find from the BRN website. Their all verifications of your diagnosis. But they do give private rooms away from others taking the test and provide time and a half in case you go all the way. For auditory stuff you can wear headphones which reads you the question. A couple of friends had these accommodations. Hope that helps...
  12. I have good news and bad news... The bad news is I told my employers about not being being able to work as an IP anymore. But they too were so supportive and said theres always one who doesn't make it. They made me feel so good. They even offered to give a lower posotion as an aide but I declined since I still have my per diem job at another hospital. But the good news is they said there would be a job waiting when I do pass so that was nice to hear. But Im not going to focus on anything else except passing the boards.... Thanks everyone for the support...
  13. Thanks thats really helpful. Is Kaplan worth taking? Should I invest in it? I did see the Saunders book and planning to buy the book. But the Nclex is changing so Im not sure if I should wait for the new book 2004 to come out?!?!
  14. My co-worker (who is a nurse), her husdand is a surveyer for JAHCO and he told me that this year they are more tracking the way things are done in the hosptial. For example when you get an MD order for a medication he/she will ask you what the process is. It goes to the parmacy...they will track it and follow up on those other departments, Pharmacy and all.... Not good at explaining but....
  15. Thanks...gij1! Im sitting here thinking exactly what you are telling me. Im thinking of a study plan. I can't really afford to take the Kaplan class... So im studing from the CDs and NCLEX books. Any advice? Thank so much for the encouragement...
