  1. WE implemented a form that the Cna's fill out each day during the reference period. 7-3 filled out eating, 11-7 filled out bed mobility, 3-11 filled out transfers and toileting. These were the only ADL's we put on the form, not each and every ADL the MDS lists. We gave them an inservice, which also got their hours in for CEU's, used instructions from the MDS manual for them to review periodically that we placed in their flow sheet book and we placed the forms in that flowsheet book for the reference period and the form is working great. It has really gave us a clearer picture of what that resident has required in that period. For example, a resident that is usually independent in all ADLs was sick one day in the reference period and required more assist, we were able to know exactly what amount of care was needed that day.
  2. I think we should encourage journalist's, especially if you know one, to put human interest stories in the paper about good things going on in the nursing homes today. We have a public relations director who is doing that right now and I hope it will help ease the minds of the public. Angie
  3. Education, Education, education. It may take a while but if you keep drilling teamwork into everyone's minds hopefully it will become ingrained in there. Start out with some tapes or education board for everyone to see and complete. You might look at some Dale Carnegie information, he is the guy who has done the work about how to influence others by the way you do your work, but the name of his work has just totally left me. Good luck. Angie
  4. Hey everyone, I'm a nursing home unit manager and am making about 19.50/hr. My administrator is trying to find out salaries or hourly rates of what some other unit managers are in the region. I am in the Bluegrass, Eastern Ky region. About 50 miles south of Lexington on I-75. Anyway, he is trying to get some comparisons to go by to see how much of a raise we might get...Yea! Any replies will be much appreciated. Angie
