  1. I am curious and would like to know how your unit makes their nursing schedule. I believe that the way my floor does things is incredibly inefficient... once a month on schedule day, the nurse that is in charge of the schedule calls each individual nurse throughout the day to pick a schedule. The list is divided into 6 groups and the groups rotate each month. I just hate to have to wait around all day for someone to call me to make my schedule. And, if I just worked night shift, I want to sleep and not be bothered! We do have a lot of staff but there has to be a better way. How do you do yours?
  2. Unfortunately it seems that pay is horrible all around Nashville...
  3. and their starting pay???
  4. Hello! Is there anyone who currently works at Vanderbilt that could give me some insight into their benefits? Specifically, I have heard that they are changing their tuition reimbursement. What are the requirements for this benefit?? I'd also like to know about retirement stuff. Thank you!!
  5. Wow thats great Zippy7! I am very hopeful to get off the wait list. Which track were you selected for??
  6. I ended up getting waitlisted for adult critical care.. ugh.. I don't know what to think
  7. I'm waiting too-- I thought they were gonna send all the emails at the same time! I'm so nervous!! Good luck to you guys on the waiting list...
  8. well, they did ask for both nursing and cumulative GPA so i think you might have a good chance! good luck!! :)
  9. I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA in my BSN program. I had a nurse internship last summer and assisted on a research project in school. I am a member of sigma theta tau and was really involved in my sorority. hope this helps :)
  10. anyone have their interview yet?? mine is tomorrow and i'm nervous!
  11. Yeah, it would be so amazing to be at Vanderbilt.. I want this so bad! I am afraid for the questions they are going to ask though. I am interviewing for adult critical care. I have no idea how many people they are interviewing/accepting but if she tells you then let me know!! It seems as though they got 364 applications from the email that some people got, which is less than I expected I guess. So who knows!
  12. Awesome!! What track are you applying?? Sorry to hear about Colorado. They came to my campus to interview people but I didn't end up going through with the application because it sounded sooo competitive, haha.
  13. my interview is on oct 21 :)
  14. I'm confused? So they had 643 or 364 applicants? What a strange email!
  15. I just got an email about scheduling an interview for adult critical care. Good luck to everyone!!! :)
  16. wow well congrats and thanks for the tip! i will get to nashville one way or another.. lol
  17. I am curious too as to where you were hired, nervouswreck. I have been trying so so hard to get a job in Nashville with absolutely no luck could be that I am from wayy out of state but I don't know...
  18. I am really anxious too now!! I want this so so bad.. it really would be amazing. But good luck everyone!!!
  19. I finally got all my stuff together too. I will get to drop it off at Vanderbilt while I'm in Nashville this weekend :)
  20. Well after I passed my boards about a month ago I've been getting a few calls from UPMC lately, and I have accepted a position at Presbyterian. woohoo!
  21. Yeah, I realize what you're saying. I know what I'm asking sounds pretty bad haha. But, I really really want to get into this residency which is in a different part of the country and I can't find a job there at all. So, I'm close to finding a job here at home until I can hopefully start the residency. I will feel really bad about leaving after a short amount of time but I feel that this is what I need to do.
  22. Hi! So I am applying for a nurse residency program starting in the winter but I graduated in May of this year. The application is asking for work experience in the past 6 months only. If I get a nursing job by the time I turn in the application (need to make money somehow!) should I put it on the application? I suppose I would have to specify that they not contact them. But I'm not sure what I should do.. I guess what I am asking is it better to show that I am getting some experience or will they see it as me leaving a job not long after I start?? Thanks!
  23. I recently passed in Ohio and I got a big brown envelope with a certificate with my license number and a piece of paper saying that I passed.
  24. Wait yeah you're probably right. I am not thinking at all haha. I did an internship last summer but that's about it.
  25. I didn't really think about that but I'll probaby double space it!
