First off, thanks for visiting my thread. I have a couple of questions about the Med/Surg ICU at BMC. I noticed there are quite a few openings in the unit. Any clues why? I currently work at another baptist hospital in a stepdown unit and would like to explore the option of transferring. That brings me to my second question. I have only been in my unit for the past 5 months which includes the whole GN orientation. So I have my license, been on my own for some time, and am doing farely well on my own plus my unit if well staffed. How would i look into possibly transferring? I know at baptist "they say" that 1 year is required before transferring units but I have also heard if there is a need, then that requirement can be waived. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello all, I just got hired here in San Antonio, TX as a grad nurse (I passed NCLEX already). The telemetry unit told me that their human resources department will call me with an "offer" and I have no clue what is the brand spanking new nurse pay. I hope not to get low-balled, so what is an acceptable pay for a new nurse here in town? I went to school out of town which put me out of the loop, btw.
