  1. I would stay away from Manorcare. They are a horrible company that only care about the mighty dollar. I worked at one of the Bethlehem sites for 6 years. I never was treated so badly. The DON was a bully who got off screaming at nurse in the hallway over the intercom. The unit clerk(not licensed) woulg give families medical advice. Call Docs and get telephone orders. She misrepsented herself as a nurse. Nothing wa done. She was the DONs mole. If one complained you where written up, set up etc. Horrible place stay away.
  2. No, you should not be stunned. This happens all the time. And the sad part is you have to prove yourself innocent. The nurse is always wrong no matter the case.
  3. I am sorry that this happened to you. I was recently laid off I worked as a nurse manager. I was simply told that I was not a fit. I have applied for several jobs. I was hired for the 11-7 shift on a vent unit. Needless to say I hate it. I have gone on many interveiws. Most just a waste of time. Either you are over qualified or you do not have enough experience. Very sad place this country is in. There will be a huge nursing shortage in the near future and noone seems to care. Try private duty, I have done this in the past. The only down fall is the hours are the best. Good luck.
  4. I have a question. I was offered a job with a LTC facility. They expect me to pay for my criminal background check and my preemployment psysical. I am having second thoughts about the job. Because it should be the employer who pays for the preemployment requirements. I think if they are this cheap now, what would they be like to work for. Any ideas let me know.
  5. I like working woth the elderly. However, it is the administration that makes the jom horrible. They put so much work on the floor nurses and do not care if they get breaks. I recently worked for Lutercrest a personal care home. I was told that I would be the unit manager. The residents where a joy. But I was expected to manage the unit give out the medications and document. While I ran around like a fool the Adminstrator worked out, left any time she wanted. Then to find out the job was temporary. This is what LTC has come to. You are lied to on interveiwed, overworked and abused. If one could just care for the residents the job would be doable.
  6. You are welcome. Good luck with your job search.
  7. The Genesis that I am refering to is in Philipsburg NJ.
  8. I agree stay away from Genesis and Manorcares. They are evil companies.
  9. I worked for the Lopatcong center in NJ. What a dive. The resident would be woken up as early as 4 am. They where washed and dressed and put into their chairs. All because dayshift complained about their work load. This meant that the residents would sit in their chairs for hours. Not repostioned etc. When I left the horrid company and searched for new employment I was given a bad reference form the DON. She lied about me. It took me almost 2 years to find out the bad references where from her. When I sent her a cease and desist letter the bad references stopped. This is a horrible company to work for. Do not work there and do not put any family members there.
