  1. Hello. I am looking for advice. I have been applying to jobs at UPMC hospitals since Feb/March and I have only gotten a few rejection emails. It is very frustrating. I don't know what exactly they are looking for. I graduated with honors from nursing school and I have some good work experience outside of nursing school - in a LTC/school/psych setting. I am a second degree nursing student so maybe that is what is hurting me?? Also, I am from the Pittsburgh area but I went to nursing school in the Philly area. So I didn't go to Pitt -- is that really a factor for them hiring people? Anyway, I am really trying to move back home! To any of the new 2012 nursing graduates that have been hired already in Pittsburgh, do you have any thoughts about this? People were saying to call UPMC and such but I have not seen any telephone numbers listed. I have tried to use my connections with people at UPMC that are clinicians and that has done nothing for me so far. Everyone just says to apply online. Also, if anyone has any idea about WPAHS and hiring new grad RNs, please feel free to share that information. I cannot find jobs on their website that are appropriate for a new RN. Very frustrating.... I would appreciate any advice you guys might have! Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone else looking for a job!
  2. Hello there nursing friends! I am just wondering if anyone knows which hospitals in the DC metro area are hiring NEW RNs. I just got my RN license yesterday in PA and I am looking to relocate to DC this summer/fall. I have been applying to places (in DC area and PA) since March-ish, and I have been getting tons of rejections. I understand that this is going to happen because I am a new nurse and it's a tough economy. Regardless, between all of the rejections and seeing "sorry we don't hire new graduates" on hospital websites, I'm getting frustrated! I would appreciate any insight regarding this dilemma :) Thanks in advance for your help! Sincerely, An eager new RN
  3. that's good to know about the waitlist - thanks! now that people bring up the whole money issue, can you defer for a year (for money reasons) if they accept you later off the waitlist? this is my first time around applying to grad schools, and so i'm not quite clear on these details. not to mention, i'm not sure that i could afford this program, even if i had gotten flat out accepted initially. any advice/info from experience?
  4. hey there, unfortunately i got waitlisted...although i'm surprised i even got on the wait list! it made my day, to be honest. i was expecting a rejection - these nursing programs are being very selective this year. anyway, does anyone know how many people they usually put on the list? like do people even have a shot at getting in from it? this is my second wait list and its driving me crazy! also, has anyone been waitlisted the first time around, and then accepted after resubmitting their app the next year? it said that they would review your app again next year, if you didn't get in from the waiting list this year. any help/insight would be much appreciated :) and congrats to everyone that got in!! i've heard this is an awesome program!
