  1. I started taking my pre-reqs a year ago and ended up at 694 on the list. Just talked to them and they're at 245!! I have decided to go instead to Denver School of Nursing - a new school in town. Only thing is, they don't offer financial aid, so it's student loan time!! I'll start in July and be done with my LPN by next year!!
  2. Allamericangirl - You are more than welcome to move back to St. Louis....
  3. I am an ER volunteer, beginning my LPN program in July. I have finished my pre-reqs and have been in the MA program, so have some med. background. I consider myself pretty able, but of course not being licensed, can't do everything. How do I make sure that the nurses I work with know this and I'm not just there to be in the way? Most are really great, letting me observe procedures and asking for my help, but I know that some just consider me a nuisance. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
  4. Dixielee - from what you pointed out, I think that Nurse Ratchet is qualified for MD status!! LOL
  5. Good meds for all RN's!! And I mean prescribed... I am studying for my RN and God willing will be done by next June. In the meantime I plan on working as a CNA and getting all of the experience I can. Luckily, I am one of the "older" folks, who finally decided what I want to be when I grow up. I have learned through my trials and tribulations that just because someone has more education doesn't mean they need to be treated any differently. CNA's, stand up for yourselves. Everyone can have a crappy day (especially in this profession). You are people too. Plus, what's the worst that could happen? "Sure Dr's act like God, but where would God be without his angels?"
  6. When my Dad was in hospital, a good practice of theirs was to write on a dry erase board, the name of the nurse and the name of the tech. We got to know them all by name and they helped me with my training (I am currently studying for my RN).
  7. All great ideas!! I thank you!
  8. Thanks kc. Which hospital are you at?
  9. My dad is currently in the hospital and I am working on my pre-reqs. Needless to say, I'm getting some great training from the folks working with him and would like to thank them. What are some good gifts for the CNAs and nursing staff?
