You should speak to an advisor at Coppin, they may recommend retaking courses to obtain a higher GPA. I had a 3.8 when I applied for an RN program at a local community college and didn't get accepted after 3 tries, I was accepted into an LPN program and graduated w/ a 4.0, it's all about your GPA. Sometimes it takes a longer route to become an RN, have you considered going to school to become an LPN?

Good luck with the job search. I have also been looking for the past few months and most places are not hiring new grads, period. I would recommend looking into homecare agencies, although most require a minimum of 6 months experience. I was lucky enough to interview for a new agency in the Baltimore area and am currently going through the hiring process. All of the positions were filled after about two weeks, it's tough out there! Lots of competition.

If you enjoy what you do and you take pride of your work of course there is nothing wrong about that :yeah:I definitely understand the pressure to bridge to RN. If I find a job as an LPN that I'm happy with and the pay is good I definitely don't plan on going back to school.

Yeah he did mention that but he didn't go into much detail. I was wondering what settings LPN's usually work in, doctors offices or hospitals? Deployments? And if the pay would be enough to make student loan payments? I need to go talk to him again soon, I just realized that I still have a lot of questions :smackingf

I was told that I may be able to skip bootcamp for a 2 week Army etiquette course, go to some training and begin working as a nurse. Anyone have more information?:)

I would recommend becoming a cna and working towards getting your RN. I've been an LPN since November and haven't had a single interview. Decided to go into the Army, really need full time work with benefits...luckily they will pay for more school and I'll eventually get my RN someday :)

Thanks for the encouragement :) jennycglad6, as far as becoming an LPN- entry level jobs are few and far between right now I've even heard of new RN's having trouble finding jobs. There are 2 practical nursing programs that I know of, one is in DC and the other is up in pa.

I can't believe how hard it is finding a job as a new LPN I've been licensed for 3 months now and haven't had a single interview. I've spoken to the other women that I had graduated with and very FEW people have found employment, and If they did it was only 2-3 days a week with ZERO benefits. LPN's cannot work as CNA's, tech's, or any other job that is below your licensure in Maryland. I just want to warn other people who are considering going to school to become an LPN. I honestly believed when I started school that I wouldn't have any problem finding a job after graduation. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but if you are a new graduate, please don't get your hopes up like I did. After the past couple months of stress and frustration I finally decided to see an Army recruiter and I'm so happy I did! Going in as an LPN I may be able to skip bootcamp and attend a 2 week Army ettiquette course, go to some training and start as an E-4. I'm determined to enlist as soon as possible!

You should try LTC facilities in your area. Walter Reed in DC has openings, and FMH has one LPN position open but its only 24 hours every other weekend. LPN's are being phased out of Maryland slowly but surely, Ive been searching for an entry level LPN job for months now
