  1. Hi guys! I am in the process of completing prereqs for nursing school. I've done pretty well so far (undergrad gpa was 3.22 and completed in 2000; prereq gpa is 3.8 so far!) My question, however, is regarding my unusual work experience. I work as a funeral counselor. which basically means I help arrange funerals. Needless to say, I deal with a lot of very distressed people all the time. I find the work strangely rewarding, however, as I like knowing I am helping people get through such a difficult time. I am also beginning to realize that this experience may well be considered good work experience for an aspiring nurse, since we will no doubt have to deal with dying patients and their families at some point. How do you think admissions people will look at this work experience? For the record, I have been volunteering for nearly two years, so this isn't the only experience I have to draw from. Also, I worked as my mother's full-time caregiver for a year and a half (cancer), but I'm not sure if it's OK to talk about those experiences in your personal statement, interviews?
