  1. I was waiting at home every day and so upset that even suspect my ability to be a nurse, I complained myself did something wrong to make companies/hospital don't want to hire me as a nurse and started losing my passion as a new nurse. Sunmaidliz and HouTx, thank you very much, your simple words and kindly response really gave me some confidence and hope. thanks again for your help !!!!
  2. Hello, everyone I graduate in May this year and got my RN license this August. I live in a very small town away from interstates highway, and I can not move since family reason. Two weeks ago, I got a job interview in a nursing home of this town. They asked for my ID/RN license card copy and told me they will hire me after finishing my background check. Last week, I called back and asked about my background check. They told me it is not done yet and should be done in a few days. Today, I am still waiting for their call because I really want to work in the same town I live so I can take care my family. however, I really cannot keep waiting. I am forgetting my skills. I started applying jobs in other town which at least I need to drive 50min in one way. and I got an interview offer today. I want the job in the same town, but is it real to wait for a background check (I never have any bad record) for 2 weeks and still waiting? Or it is just an excuse they don't want to hire me? I may take the 50min drive job if I still don't get any call from nursing home of my living town. but I really want to working in the same town like I said I can take care of my family. Does anyone have the similar situation before. please help!!!! still waiting ... Thank you!
  3. and Like Altra mentioned, post-monitoring also affect the doc's decision.
  4. Thank you! I looked up a little bit more also. so most likely to give sedation; and narcotic is more depends on the doc, pt's pain perceptive, and the voltages. make me feel much better, thanks again.
  5. thanks alot for the explanation. I never see a cardioversion in my life, I am imaging is really painful, but thee rational on my practice question said no narcotic analgesic used before cardioversion, I am wondering if a non-narcotic "weak" pain meds will be good enough to relieve the severe pain. or the rational of question is wrong?
  6. I am about to take nclex, and I am really confused about cardioversion, I also did looked up a lot but not clear result about it, so I am here and hoping to get the help. I know the most important about cardioversion is syn button and pt pain. I know for sure that benzo sedation is given before procedure, but some say should give narcotic, and say should not. I am really want to know should or not. thanks ahead!
  7. thank u very much, I did some more research, it is a really complete system when u do assignment. I think both of your explanation helped me. I forgot there are some area only have rn, thanks again
  8. Can anyone help me, please....
  9. hello guys, I am in nursing management class right now and I have a question about the pt acuity system, please help me out! My understanding is that this system is used during both pt delegation and assignment as a sign of workload. However, according to the category I, II, &III, from minimal assist pt to complete assist pt, it based on feeding, amb, and bathing assistantce requirement which is the CNA job, I am confused how it is related to assignment of RNs. Thank you very much!!!
  10. thanks it does, but I want to make sure did you mean body temperature

  19. one day left for final exam, got a confused thing. instructor said complete bed bath is that nurse do everything for pt who cannot do anything like on vent or unconsciousness; partial bath is that nurse help pt do part of the clean. but the right answer for one of my practice questions is UAP assist pt in taking a complete bed bath (and the pt is just weak and had a feet ulcer even can do bed exercise). Does anyone can tell me what is really complete bed bath and partial bed bath. so appreciate helping!!!!

hi, creamsoda, you said "the person can sometimes times the movement as its in the colon". do you think there is any difference for controlling at different location such as ascending and sigmoid. I do know the different consistency of different location such as formed or softer. but I can't make sure if different location affect the degree of control . thanks
  21. mrnewman replied to mrnewman's topic in General Nursing
First of all, I really appreciated everyone who tried to help me answer this question. I learned a lot from your excellent information. So far I got my personal idea by concluding everybody's idea, which is you can not control it if the "control" in question means sphincter of colon; however, you can control it with limitation if the "control" in question means the stoma, and it may have different degree to control it depending on the location (Ex. harder to control in ascending than in sigmoid). I can't make sure if everybody agree with me, but I do want to thanks everybody and I will look up the irrigation skill.

hello, I am the RN student, and I have a question about colostomy :"can you control evacuation of the bowel with a colostomy." I think there is no way to control it (I am not talking about clean the bag) if you have whatever colostomy. however, my classmate thought it depends on where the colostomy is located. I checked books and really cannot find a answer for this question. Can anyone please help me? thanks ahead.
  23. Thank you very much, that helps me a lot. I think I will apply home care job.
  24. some of my friends told me nurse aid work in a private agency is extremely tough. others told me it is not bad as long as you don't work in a nursing home. I feel confused about what is the difference between nursing home and home care? Thank you very much
