  1. Just to add to this discussion. To the person who got into G-town with scholarship. Georgetown is definitely more reputable than NYU so go with G-town. I agree with the others. We all have fantasies with living in NYC. I stayed there for a couple of yrs and saw a lot of people struggling to make ends meet. My hubby says just go to NYC on a long holiday why live there. At the same time, going to school in NYC is a better experience than working in NYC. It's just so stressful if you dont have $$$.
  2. You def have the background. I was Bio Anthro and Poli Sci. You'll have a great experience at NYU but yea it is expensive. I havent applied yet to any Cal State or other programs. NYU was like my 1st choice b/c I am familiar with the area and took classes at NYU Steinhardt. What was your back-up just in case? Do you recommend any other nursing programs in CA for me to look into? Pls let me know Thanks
  3. Hi, I sent a pre-req verification (fax'd). I went to UC D for nearly two yrs and then transferred to UCLA. This is a second career option for me so I'm at least 5 yrs old than you if you just go out of undergrad. Did you just graduate? NYU is my first pick. Didnt prioritze Columbia nor UCSF b/c I knew that it would be too rigorous for me and I dont have a medical background. What's your background? TX
  4. Thanks Sunshine CaliGirl! It seems you got your app way ahead of the March 1st deadline. My app was complete a little over a wk after the March 1st priority deadline. Just curious, where did you do your undergrad? I'm from Nor Cal too but went to undergrad in So Cal. Take care!
  5. Hope it's true we will learn by end of May so we can plan accordingly for the future. Thanks.
  6. Congrats SunshineCaligirl- just curious. What's your stats in nursing pre-req and when did you submit your completed app? What school did you do your undergrad at in Nor Cal? Thanks! I'm still waiting for a decision ... Hopefully I will hear by the end of this wk so I can proceed with my options. Thanks so much!
  7. HI all, Just keepng the thread alive! Still waiting and keeping myself busy in the meantime with finals and summer plans. Good luck to all!
  8. Congrats Kanhosa! Just curious, when did you submit your completed app? Also pls share your stats - Undergrad background and how you did on your pre-reqs. Thanks
  9. Not sure if this is the same thread but just FYI, I called NYU regarding status check and they said my app is complete and under review. I submitted my completed app around 2nd wk of March so I figure another batch of decisions will be coming out by early May.
  10. HI all, I did call and totally my heart missed a beat. The record clerk said, "We 'refused' your application. It is under review." I asked her to repeat, "We 'RECEIVED' your application. It is complete and under review. Whew! Yea, just wanted a status check b/c I submitted everything by 2nd wk of March.:) TY.
  11. Geminimoon, if NYU is your best option with no cheaper alternative just go for it! The sooner you start working you will be able to pay off that loan. Those in med school have a heftier load of student loans but in time they will be able to pay it off and still be able to live comfortably!
  12. Thanx Norcalgal. Cant wait to get a decision. I think I will just call around Wed to see if my file is listed as "complete" or "under review"
  13. Norcalgal, Did you learn via phone or mail? Did you meet the priority deadline? If by phone, how did you go about asking them for a decision/ Also, if you dont mind pls let us know your background-stats in pre req and all. Thanks much, MJM2010
  14. Reading posts about them calling the Office only to find out that certain docs are missing or they need more clarification on things makes me want to call the office. Did anyone try to inquire via email instead? I'm trying to not bug so much via phone? I'm beginning to wonder if my application status is still pending and not CP or complete b/c I mentioned that a 3rd LOR (letter of rec) was on its way but decided not to do it. Any suggestions on my situation? Should I just assume that although I told a counselor I intended to re-submit a 3rd LOR and didnt s/he decided to input my file as "complete" and forward it for review. Should I just email?? Thanks. Getting way too paranoid ...
  15. I would just sit on it for awhile. Fr this forum I've heard they've been getting a lot of phone calls re status update. Since I'm paranoid I would hate your file to be misplaced if it was pulled by a counselor and then stuck on someone's desk. I worked in Admissions for a college before ... things get misplaced when files get pulled. Give them two more wks and then place a call.
  16. Thank you so much for the info. I'm getting a little anxious but I know if it's meant to be, it's meant to be!
  17. Hi Genu9ine, Just curious, did you file your app exactly by the priority deadline. Everything was completed, for me, around March 10th (wk after priority deadline). Wondering if I'm in the second batch of decisions. Also, just wondering if mailing were received early to those on the East Coast side. Are you coming fr. the East or West Coast? I guess that's why NYU Admissions recommended to stay away fr. forums, you get ultra-curios of those who got accepted. Ha-ha. Congratulations to all for early acceptances!
  18. Great News Christina123 - Congrats! Did you apply to other schools? a lot of people are saying that NYU wants to get decisions out when they know one is applying to competing schools so the individ. can make a decision. I made the mistake by stating in my essay that I am only interested in the NYU program. Dont know if that's good or not. Thanks.
  19. Hey all, Let us know when anyone receives acceptance mailing. I'm hoping they will send decisions out by mid-April for those who were close to submitting around priorite deadline. Thanks!
  20. I would just take it online at a community college. They said they would accept this anyway but not for the core science classes.
  21. Thanks for the post. That would be great if people who met the March 1st deadline or that first wk at least gets to receive an admission decision soon!
  22. JS Travel thanks so much for your response. Yea. I found you dont have to read everything too in another program yet maybe just focus on the outline or what is being said in lecture. Ha! Good nobody knows my in NYC. I can wear that "Barney" outfit without being self-conscious. Ha-ha. Thanks a lot for you response.
  23. For Kika72: My kids were with me at Columbia. It worked out fine. The schoolwork was tough though b/c I hadnt written papers in a long time and to that level. Expathopeful: Thank you of your perspective. I think I will do fine if accepted at NYU my prob is that they dont offer family housing and I would love to bring my kids along with I will leave them with hubby in Cali. Maybe I can find a job too around campus or something. Your words are encouraging!
  24. Thanks so much. Yea. I'm sure I'll be a vision too with ultra purple scrubs and white shoes. Ha-ha. I'm so excited to start. We'll see what happens .... TY again.
  25. speedingticket thanks for all the details. I appreciate. Kika72 I have a similar dilemma! I have two small children. Columbia U had family housing NYU has no family housing. Thinking of leaving my kids back in Cali with hubby. They were with me when I was at Columbia for a time and had a great time in the family dorm. Are you going to dorm it? Speedingticket I cant imagine going through getting a lease and furnishing an apt guess I have to ask NYU housing office for options since the dorm thing is a no no in your bk. Maybe I can find a share but then that would be a headache. Just curious do you have a long commute ... maybe the key is to wake up super early.
