  1. OK, I had the old process down pat but now I feel like I don't know what to do with the new CAAS. Could any of you give me some feedback on how you complete the whole process of the annual, sig change, and admission assessments. Are you using the CAAS worksheets or something else? Do you have the care plans complete when you go to IDT or do you develop them after the meeting? My fellow MDS coordinator and I are having difficulty with the new process. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks
  2. When you say you insert the MDS for a 190 bed unit do you mean that you are putting all the MDS for the entire facility into the computer and submitting them? Sounds to me as if you are the MDS coordinator plus a lot more!!!!! Running a 48 bed unit on top of all of this sounds unreasonable and impossible
  3. I am also having a lot of trouble getting the hang of the CAAs and CATs. Not sure what is the best way to complete them. We have been printing off the worksheets and using those but it seems a big waste of trees and time. Not sure what our government was thinking, (or not). Nothing is qicker or easier and the discharge assessments are the most problematic.
  4. Oh my God!!! Sounds like overload, you must both work many extra hours a week. Do you also do the Triggers and Raps? We do at my facility and I also do the new admission care plans for my case load. Have you had 3.0 training yet?
  5. Thanks so much for the info!!
  6. Thanks for your reply, I guess what I really want to know is, how many MDS nurses do you have to manage this?
  7. What is the average amount of residents you are responsible to do MDS assessments for in your facility. Myself and another RN share our facility, a total of 110 NF, (with only about 10 of those being PPS) and another 27 residential level of care residents.
  8. :)Thanks so much for your prompt answer. This will help to validate my answer today to a restorative nurse who insisted that because this lady crossed her arms inside the lift sling during transfers that she should be coded an extensive assist of two.
  9. Wondering, if a resident is transferred each and every time in the past 7 days using a full body mechanical lift how would you code this?
  10. Again, new to this job. Is there a minimum amount of days that rehab/restorative items need to be done during the window to impact the case mix score? Any response would be appreciated. Thanks
