Guidance in taking classes with Excelsior I am not a LPN, but wrkd in medical.
Thanks alot for your honesty! I have to tell you that I have gone back and forth with this for months and I really believe that there is no way that anyone could pass that clep without any experience. I also went onto Excelsior's site and found the info. that states that in September Surgical Tech's will no longer be accepted. I appreciate all the info that everyone has given me and it has helped me to decide that I think that this route for nursing is not the way to go.

Guidance in taking classes with Excelsior I am not a LPN, but wrkd in medical.
This is to anyone that can help!! I am really undecided, I turned in my application to Excelsior to start the ADN program, but having 2nd thoughts. I worked in Surgery for almost 10 years as a Surgical Tech. I am not sure if I would have the knowledge to pass the 2 1/2 day clep exam that they offer at the end of the program. I need some advice, can this clep can be done if you have never started an IV or catherized a patient? I really want to get my degree, but do not want to go through all these classes and then fail the Clep. Does anyone know where I could obtain this type of knowledge? I no longer work in a Hospital, so that would not be an option of learning. If anyone could help I am desperate!!!!:rotfl: lmr

I will check the site out. This helps alot because I am still deciding whether I want to enroll or not. I am not looking at the threads, but did you say that you were enrolled? If so how is it going so far? Thanks!

Is this CPNE a class room? Do you know where you take this? Is this the final class to be taken after all your other classes?

Excelsior
I posted this question on the Colorado forum, but didn't get a response. I see that there is alot of information about Excelsior, so if anyone can give me advice I would appreciate it. My first question is about the clinicals, how would you get hired or take the NCLEX exam if you haven't did any clinicals? Can this be done? Next does anyone know if Colorado accepts EC grades? This is where I reside as of now. I have been looking into this for sometime, but just need this information to make my mind up. I just took my exam for re-certification for Surgical Technologist and I can now apply to EC. I do not want to pay for all this to find out no one will hire me. So if someone or anyone has any information I would appreciate it. :)

Clinicals
:) Since no one responded to my question about clinicals at Excelsior I called the school and spoke with a counselor (which I could have done that in the 1st place) he said that there are no clinicals that you complete your degree by taking 7 exams at $155.00 a piece, but they give you resources such as: internet, books, and other sources to use to study for these exams. My question is, will anyone hire you as a RN if you never did clinicals? How do you know how to draw blood or start and IV? If anyone has any comments please respond. I have taken the majority of my prereq's from a local college, but did not want to wait 3 or more years to get into the nursing program. Any comments will be appreciated just looking for some guidance.
