I am an RN and I have been working in Peds (office setting) for a few years now. I just got hired at a new office and we see a lot of newborns. I have noticed that many of these moms are having a hard time breast feeding. I was thinking about getting some type of lactation training so I can help them. I don't really want to take a whole degree program. I just want to get a certification and not a degree. I looked at the international website and all of their pathways involve getting an associate or bachelor's degree and logging tons of hours before being able to take the test. Are there any classes that I can take just to get a basic certification???
  2. I am a new grad. I got my RN in June. I have been working at a fast paced doctor's office but I really want to work in the hospital. I know that it is next to impossible to get into the hospitals around me so I would like to make myself as marketable as possible. I would love to take and EKG class and get my ACLS. I really don't know how to go about doing this. The hospitals around me only offer it in house. Where else can I look? Any other advice to help me crack the hospitals??? Thanks!!!
  3. Thank you so much for the response and the ideas. Maybe I will try to stick out my hypothermia topic. Basically I just needed an idea of what to write about. It does not have to be an original idea because I have to have support and data to back it up. I just have to prove why something controversial is done a certain way. Thanks again!!!
  4. I have to write an evidenced based paper. I need to pick a nursing issue and research it. It sounds simple but it is not. The issue has to be something that I question. I have to research why something is done a certain way or why it is being done wrong. The issue must have experiments and data to back up the conclusion. I was going to write about inducing hypothermia after cardiac arrest but I could not come up with enough data. Do any of you amazing nurses ever question why or how you do something everyday? I'm just trying to come up with a topic to research. Any good controversies going on right now? Thanks for any input :)
