  1. Hey, I am an international nurse who have been offered a job in surgery, and I have fear as I have never worked in surgery before apart from clinical rotation in nursing school (which was not in Canada). My past experience have been in obs, gyn from home and medical and oncology in Canada. I need some advice from those nurses who work in surgery, how is it working in surgery? do u think I will be able to learn and implement. I do understand some surgery patients have medical problems, so i might be able use my medical experience but it's the nursing care for surgery patients which i am concerned about, and also not been aware of surgical procedures. I am wondering is it worth taking the risk in order to learn and this will give me some experience in surgery too.... Your advice will be highly appreciated and will give me some direction. Thanks,
  2. Hi I would suggest the CRNE prep guide 3rd edition and also if you can get the 2nd edition from the library to practise questions. I would also recommend online test of 100 questions from CNA website and if you go under the section of RN exam in CNA website they are also going to publish a new guide with mutiple questions and fill in the blank questions sometime in March or April. Maybe you can purchase and practise to get an idea of the questions. I also suggest to test some nclex questions though they are not as psychological tested as the canadian exam questions. I agree with one of the posting reply of timing your questions which is important factor in any exam. I hope you are aware that there is book 1 and book 2 for CRNE exam. As of CRNE Jan 2004 had questions ranging from 132-135 in book 1 with 3.5 hrs and this also applies to book 2 exam of course not all the questions are counted towards your score as some are experimental questions. Well this jan they increased the number of questions book 1 had 142 questions and book 2 had 143 questions with the same time frame of each 3.5 hrs. So time yourself careful as you don't want to miss a question. I don't know they might increase the time as there are fill in the blank questions. U have to search on this!!
