  1. I came over to Mississauga three months ago, back in the uk I was a school nusre with the community degree. From my experience it would be best to start the process of registering with the cno as soon as possible, it it quite a lenghty process. I waited to take the exam until I arrived over here, I found that employers are unlikely to hire you without the exam on tempoary registration. Try and get some of the study guides that the cno suggest for studying, they were off great help, I ordered them off Amazon. I passed the exam first time, but there is a lenghty time in between sitting and waiting for the results. Looking back I if I realised this I would have flown over to sit the exam before I came over. Hope that this is off use to you, let me know if I can be off any further help. Good luck.
  2. I currently work as public health nurse in the UK, due to husbands work commitments we are going to be relocating to the greater area of toronto. I am all set to sit College of nurses of Ontario exam shortly. Last week we spent time over in Toronto, getting to know the area etc. I thought that this would be a great opportunity to make some contacts and speak to people in regards to jobs and how the Canadian Public Health system works, or so i thought so... I presented myself at many human resource departments only to find out that they were very reluctant to offer me help. I have an extensive nursng career history, with two degrees. I found it very disheartening, especially as in my curent postion i have welcomed many nurses and talked through my job responsibilites, role, case load, allowed them to shadow me etc, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or ideas on this? Many thanks

  4. I am a school nurse currently working in England. I completed a public health degree last year. My experience is also in acute medicine with a degree in medicine also. We are planning to move to Ontario in Canada this year, does anybody know how to access jobs in this area? Many thanks.
  5. Hello to all, Currently i live in England, here I have worked in acute medicine and now work in the public health sector. We are planning to move to the area of Torono shortly, due to my boyfriends relocation of job. I have been accepted to write the Canadian Regisiterd Examination in Ontario. I am keen to stay in public health nursing within the area of children, school, sexual health and health promotion. Where is the best place to start looking for jobs? Hope that someone can giveme helpful hints.
