hey i'm new to this site. so forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section. i'm from the great state of washington working on my nursing pre-reqs. i've been looking at schools all around the country. our lady of the lake college in baton rouge, la holds my attention. i would like more information on the schooling as they aren't very good at answering the phones or have a more information request. is there asn program entry level to rn? as the curriculum seems very light (as in not so many classes) compared to other asn programs. what are they most looking for in the essay as i've read in a previous post the essay is heavily weighed & is a big deciding factor? is this fairly hard school to be accepted? (yes i know every school is very competitive, but they have classes of a 100?) also the 6 hour class requirement to be accepted? what exactly did you do if you were not a current student at the time you were accepted. that kind of confused me...since i obviously woudn't move down to la just to take a course at olol to apply and be rejected. another question is the semester ii is that the begining of the nursing program? thank you this is copied from the olol website: it is recommended that all applicants to the traditional asn program meet the following minimum admission requirements: 1) be accepted for full admission to olol college. 2) be in good academic standing at olol college. 3) have completed 6 credit hours at olol college. 4) have completed the following foundation courses with a grade of c or better: acsm 1110, engl 1310, math 1315, biol 2310, chem 1310 or chem 1315, and psyc 1310. 5) have earned a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on arts and sciences courses in the asn curriculum. 6) have earned a grade of c or better in the arts and sciences courses in the asn curriculum. 7) be in good academic standing from any previously admitted nursing programs(s). a letter of good standing should be submitted in support of the application and mailed to the office of admissions at the time of application. 8) have completed the test of essential academic skills (teas) with a composite score of 67% or higher. credit hours acsm engl math biol psyc chem chem 1110 1310 1315 2310 1310 1310 1315 semester i - foundation courses introduction to college education english i college algebra human anatomy & physiology i introductory psychology introduction to chemistry or fundamentals of chemistry i 1 3 3 3 3 3 16 biol biol nurs nurs 2311 2320 1310 1710 semester ii human anatomy & physiology ii fundamentals of human nutrition pharmacology in nursing foundations of nursing practice 3 3 3 7 16 psyc biol biol nurs nurs 2330 2325 2325l 1715 1720 semester iii psychology across the life span fundamentals of microbiology fundamentals of microbiology lab adult health i 7 week course mental health nursing 7 week course 3 3 1 5 4 16 engl nurs nurs 1311 2710 2715 semester iv english ii adult health ii 7 week course care of children and families 7 week course 3 5 4 12 rels nurs nurs 1310 2720 2725 semester v introduction to theology care of women and neonates 7 week course adult health iii 7 week course 3 4 6 13
