  1. Hi, There is no specific mental health nurse training in Australia. Some nurses do a grad programme in mental health after gaining general registration. I think this is a 12 or 18 month course only where they gain what is called an endoresment. I'm a mental health overseas trained nurse and work in Queensland. Most nurses I have worked with in mental health are general trained with no mental health qualifications so with some experience in mental health you would get an RN possition. Mental health qualifications would be required for a higher possition however eg: Nurse Unit Manager.
  2. Hi, When I registered in Queensland in 2007 it was not required to do an English language test if you are from an English speaking country, however it may be dfferent now.
  3. Hi, I'm an Irish trained mental health nurse currently working in Brisbane but want to move to melboure. Can anyone give me info on best mental health services there and also if any facilities have 12 hour shifts. Much prefer to work three days a week than five! Any info on mental health nursing melbourne would be greatly appreciated.
