  1. I wonder why they extended it again? For me, it just adds to the stress! When I printed my TEAS results, they printed horizontally. Strange - I hope that it will not be a problem.
  2. Took the TEAS today, getting ready to apply. Anyone in same boat?
  3. Wasnt sure where to post this, anyone have info on wcccd nursing program info meeting dates/times? Thanks
  4. Hi, They changed the entrance exam from the TEAS to the ATI critical thinking test. i have not taken it yet, but will soon. Currently searching for review and prep materials.
  5. How did the critical thinking test go? I'll be taking it soon and am looking for some prep/review materials.
  6. Patho is a pre req at my school. It's somewhat of a "weeder" class. Requires the use of critical thinking skills. Tough class, the exam questions were insane. The mechanism of the disease process was emphasized heavily as was "creating" drugs to treat diseases. I bombed the first exam but rallied and passed with a B. Whew!
  7. Hi, I do not want to seem discouraging or negative in any way, but the experience I have at my school is that C's in the science classes don't cut it. Your GPA is good but bear in mind that the science classes build on one another and become progressively more difficult. My school puts pathophisiology as a pre requisite and I am taking it this semester. This class is a beast! And I have been advised that when I apply to the program this is THE class they look at. Talk about stress!!!! I hope something in this post was helpful. I haven't had my coffee yet. Lol
  8. Vague exams are the worst! I took A & P II this summer and am still waiting for final grade. Nothing that was ever on the exam review guide was actually on the exam. I did great on all of the practicals, but considered withdrawing from the class due to lecture exam grades that were not up to my personal standard. Now as I wait with a giant ulcer brewing, for the final grade, I am beginning to wish I had dropped the course. I apologize, I know this has zilch to do with cheating, but a prior similarly related post caught my eye. Good luck!
  9. Some really good points were made, that caused me to pause and consider my original opinion, which was to just let the cheater get caught eventually. For me personally, it would depend on the situation. I'm still astounded that cell phones were allowed to be out at all during an exam, much less used!
  10. I will pm you as soon asI figure out how. Thanks for the encouragement, I feel a little less freaked out now. Yes, I am taking it at Madonna. He would give these "study guides" for the exams and then none of the material on the so-called study guide would be on the tests. And his questions were very tricky. I get my grade tomorrow and final grade Sat. At least that's what he says. I'm guessing that they will be posted when ever the deadline is. I'll cut him some slack because he has been very nice and I did enjoy his class.
  11. I can relate!! I have a very tall girl in my A & P II class who shows up only for exams and tends to linger behind those of use who are shorter at the practical stations. I too have a prof that seems to pull exam questions out of the sky and I study my butt off to keep my head above water as well. Several of us noticed she was cheating, but no one said anything to the prof. I handled it my own way by letting everyone go through the stations and doing mine when they were all done. Stations weren't timed so people tended to congregate and I just couldn't concentrate as well with people jockeying for position. I relayed this to my prof and told him I preferred to wait until most everyone was done and he was fine with it. If she is cheating her way through school, she won't get far. Keep your head down and your eye on the prize. They make these classes tough for a reason: to weed out people like her. Good luck!
  12. Hopefully next July, I have gen ed classes to take in addition to some more pre reqs that were not required at WCCC. I have a sinking feeling that I am going to get a "C" in this A & P II class. Hormones are killer for me and his exam questions are phrased in a very tricky manner. Good for clinical thinking, I guess, but even though I study my butt off and do everything I am supposed to I'm still not where I would like to be. Big difference from the classes at WCCC and I consider this semester to be my initiation. I am terrified to see what a "C" will do to my GPA and my final is tomorrow and I am a hot mess. I am not used to struggling like this. A & P I was a breeze so this has me a little (ok, a lot ) discouraged. I'm trying to stay positive. We'll see how it goes.... I think for me, getting into the program will be the rough part, but if I do, I am more than confident that I will do fine. Is that odd? I think on some level, I am subconsciously psyching myself out because it is so competitive. Sorry about the stressed out rant. I probably should just go to bed and try to rest before exam. Ha! Fat chance!

I got a white board and various colors of dry erase markers and I love this system! I can write larger and waste way less paper! It was a great tip. Actually, they all were. Thanks to you all! P.S The white board is much more user friendly when drawing things out. I learn better by drawing it out than by staring at a diagram while praying for a photographic memory!
  14. Good for you! Madonna seems to have a more personal vibe. Especially having come from WCCC. Heard that the minimum GPA to be accepted is 3.6. I have 3.8 but that leaves me no "wiggle room". I'm not well versed on the whole GPA thing. I am as my advisor calls me, " a non-traditional student". I will be 39 next week. I get the basic jist of grade point average, but am worried about the basic algebra class I have to take. I don't want one subject area that I am weak in ( I literally don't get it. I just don't think that way) to ruin my chances. Stressful, that's for sure! Any particular areas of nursing you have found interesting? Where do you do your clinicals? Thanks for responding, I really appreciate it.
  15. How many do they accept? I know it's structured differently than the way they do it in community colleges ( I trans from WCCC) because it's a BSN. Did you take the critical thinking test? I haven't heard much about it so it's daunting. I'm hoping to be ready to apply next summer. You in the program? Just wait, I'll hit you with a bunch of other questions . Love it there so far, this is my first semester.
  16. Anyone currently in their program or taking pre reqs there? Was wondering how many they accept. Have not met with head of dept yet.

Thanks! That is very interesting. It never occurred to me not to move on to the next thing until I had nailed the first. I was trying straight memorization and I also made a huge chart but got all cramped up from laying, sitting and kneeling on floor. White board is brilliant! Will def try it.Thank you again!

Any tips/tricks for memorizing hormones, derivatives, target organs, polar/non polar? I have tried straight memorization, but it's just not sinking in. I usually write things out to help me memorize but even that isn't working. Big final this week.
  19. Dansko. Hands down. I finally broke down and bought a white pair for work and while ugly, they keep my feet happy. I prefer the professional and since I am currently a dental assistant in a more relaxed office I also have a patent leather leopard pair. The soles do turn yellowish after awhile though.
  20. Just registered for 2 online classes. Have 2 kids, work full time. Anybody out there have any suggestions/helpful hints? Thanks.:)
  21. Thanks, that actually made me laugh. Any advice re:registering for classes online vs in person at wcccd?
  22. Two words: universal precautions. What about all of the people out there with undiagnosed/undisclosed communicable diseases? I guess those two students hadn't thought of that yet.
  23. Holly, very thoughtful post. My grandfather died a few days ago and I wish the nurses on his unit would have done any of those things. Instead, they pretty much left us alone. Well, one did come in and sign her initials on the dry erase board for every hour of her shift...at the beginning of her shift. I have never been with anyone that close to death and would have appreciated any gesture of kindness. I learned a lot from the experience. Rest in peace grampie, I love you.
