  1. Luvlee--maybe if you try to invite a close friend or something so that it will at least let you create the group? And then we can all find it and join? And thanks for the book info! does anyone know what the book info is for the issues class?
  2. My first semester will be patho and issues...I've faxed the paperwork, done the background check, and going to UDS tomorrow. Nervous about starting the medical clearance stuff as it looks pretty confusing. But all the questions answered on here have been very helpful as I am just now going through all of this :) And I think the facebook group is a great idea...I'd love to get to know everyone else starting school!
  3. I'm in!! FNP part time :)
  4. Can anyone on here tell me if you were accepted and don't live in the state of Alabama? Apparently it's a huge deal to be out of state, and I'm just finding this out now. Any info would help. Just wondering if anybody is getting in out of state. Thanks all!
  5. Congrats!! That's exciting!! Did you get in full time? I'm wondering about this rumor that they aren't accepting any full-time students for any of the specialties...
  6. Hi jsoupy, I still haven't heard and am actually in bham looking for an apartment. I'm relocating either way but it would still be nice to know if I'm in. This may be rude, but can I ask what your experience, etc is that you think helped you be admitted? I'm just trying to compare myself to others who have previously gotten in. And I'm about to have a nervous breakdown just not knowing what I'm going to be doing in one month. Full time job? Part time job? Flex job? Ahhh! Anyways, you know how it is. Any info at all would be helpful. Thanks!!
  7. Congrattts j!!! That is really exciting! I hope to be posting the same soon...we shall see!
  8. Some letters have already been mailed...they're working on the rest. They say they will go out at the latest on Monday, but there was a "hopefully" at the end of that statement.
  9. JSoupy, I feel EXACTLY the same way. And it's nice to hear someone else vent. I called last week and talked to the girl at the front desk of the office of student services. I said, "do you know that the website says we will be notified of a decision within 30 days of application due date" ? To which she replied "Oh that was a misprint. It is supposed to say that the applications will be reviewed within 30 days of application due date." Really? because it says that we will be "notified within 30 days" on every fact sheet for every specialty. That's a lot of misprints. Furthermore, I am being asked by my manager every single day when I am going to give her notice that I will no longer be a full time employee, and I can't answer, because I don't know. That's embarrassing. I'm stressed to the max wondering if I'm going to be paying for and attending a Master's program in one month. And the newest date that I've heard that we will get our letters is "On or around July 14." Last week when I talked to the guy who sends them out he told me, "they will be sent out sometime next week." So it's changing weekly. I'm just really sad that the school I wanted to attend so badly and had such high hopes in is proving itself to be just plain unprofessional.
  10. I talked to the guy who sends them out yesterday...He said he will be sending them out "sometime next week..." And yeah, he said it is mail only as well.
  11. I'm pretty sure we have to find our own clinical placement? At least that's what I've heard? I'm going to be living in the birmingham area but I haven't heard of a list of clinical sites. I'd like to know more info about this too if anyone knows :)
  12. Thanks for all of the updates/information everyone! Keeping my fingers crossed :) good luck to all!
  13. Hi all! So I'm also waiting to hear from UAB...I applied for FNP for fall 2011. It is stupidly the only school I applied to, but it is really the only program I want to attend after comparing a lot of them. The wait is killing me too, especially since we will only find out about a month and a half before starting school. Not a whole lot of time to either prepare for school or move on with "plan B." I live in D.C. now and am planning to relocate to Bham for a couple of reasons--But I'm not sure if I still will if I don't get into school. So now it's a waiting game. Anyone who lives in Bham or can offer any info on good places to live, work, etc.--I'd love to hear from you! Good luck to all who are also waiting to hear back, only a few weeks away! :)
  14. Hi all! I'm applying for UAB FNP for fall 2011. Does anyone on here live in the Bham area? I'm actually relocating for family/school reasons even though it is distance accessible. Does anyone know if they are able to find preceptors for you in the Bham area? I'm definitely not well connected there, so am kind of worried about that...
  15. Thanks everyone for your advice, I really appreciate it and am taking it all into consideration. Just because a few of you asked, my commitment to this hospital is 2 years. I signed a statement during my interview stating that I committed to being here for 2 years (Apparently we are the first class of new grads that they had sign this...the year before it was only a one year commitment). It was easy to do then because I really wanted the job. To my knowledge I don't have to pay anything back, but I really hate quitting things so it's still hard to break the commitment. I intend to stay here until the 1 year mark though.
