PA RN license transfer to CA
Hey, I'm preparing to apply for my CA license, when during the process do I obtain a fingerprint card? I'm going to have to do it the old fashioned way with the hard copy.

nursing portfolios, what to do!?
So I'm ready for a new job! When I graduated almost 3 years ago, I was not required to make a portfolio, but it seems like that's the new up-and-coming thing with interviews. I have decided to join that bandwagon, but having no real direction other than a standard template, I was hoping someone can help me out! a few things: 1. I am a member of a diabetes resource committee. there is no certificate or CEUs or major projects that goes along with that, so I was thinking of writing a little summary of what my responsibilities are with it. thoughts? 2. I spent 3 weeks each february of the last 3 years to volunteer in the philippines with a surgical organization to provide appropriate care to the locals. again, no documentation or certificates. I was thinking of making a 1 page collage of each trip, along with a little summary. I would make this as professional as possible, but I just wasn't sure if there was a better way to do so. 3. should i put the actual license or a copy of license/cpr cards, professional documents etc. thanks in advance for all your input. it's greatly appreciated!

newbie to traveling..yikes!
hey all! so i'm a medsurg rn with about 2 years in! i'm in desperate need of a change and after ton of research i feel like traveling nursing is the most satisfying option! so i've read through a lot of the threads for beginning travling, and i'm terribly overwhelmed! i'm looking for some guidance for the basic start. there are a ton of agencies that seem very attractive yet my skepticism makes me hesitate. i have no idea about taxes anything, so that money part is a bit intimidating as well. so how did you all get started?? do i just pick an agency and go for it? i also found a site that helps you find an agency fitting for you, is that even necessary?? i'm eager to get started, but i'm trying to stay informed and not get too ahead of myself! thanks!

just graduated...what's next?
Hi all! so I recently graduated a BSN program in PA, and now I'm experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions, which I assume comes along with generally graduating college as well as the alarming realization that it is time to grow up now. yikes! So, how to pick where to apply? Many people (outside of the healthcare profession) consistently reassure me that I'll have no problem finding a job, however the e-mail from my advisor suggesting we take ANY job offer that comes our way cause of the lack of job openings...not so reassuring? I feel like theres so many types of hospital environments, even within the different units, so what's the major differences from community hospitals and the larger hospitals? if anyone has worked in both? which one did you prefer? Would it help to contact an HR rep or should I just go directly to the website where to jobs are posted? ... I have tried contacting some HR by phone and e-mail, and others from job fairs but they just immediately direct me to the website. Thanks, Happy Holidays!!
