I have a 3.5 overall GPA and a 3.3 in my core science class and have been not won the "lottery" at ARC or SCC. I've applied to two other RN schools this semester that have a lottery program and also have been rejected. I thought I would open myself up to applying to two LVN programs and ARC's Respiratory therapy program and didn't win the so called "lottery" either. Out of the 6 programs I applied to this semester, I have been REJECTED from all of them. Talk about frustrating! I thought maybe one would pan out, but I guess I was wrong. I've decided that I will be applying out of state as I don't have the time to be waiting for 4+ years. I would feel better about the lottery if there was some kind of live drawing; at least I know then that it was truly random. Everyone I know is playing the waiting game when it comes to nursing. I think this year it's even more difficult as those who back to school for a new career almost always go for nursing. I had a friend that went out-of-state for her BSN, and with a blink of an eye she was back in Cali while everyone she knows is still applying to Adn and BSN programs.
