Accelerated Online BSN Program
It was a great program but now they are moving and are not going to be managed by OU (from what I understand). I used to live in SD but i had to move to Baltimore (where i know no one) cause they offered me a new grad position. To be honest, I was out of work for about 6 months and needed to work, so I looked out of state. Its getting really competitive everywhere and esp in Southern California. I am hoping to return home in a few years and after some great experience. If you are not committed to stay in so cal, I suggest you move and start over. I was explained by a nurse recruiter from Riverside that there are 7000 new grads and only 3000 had jobs. This is not to discourage you but I would keep my options open. I know many who graduated with me who are still out of work and its been 9 months since we had graduated. Take any opportunity and try to get in the door for your acute care experience. Good luck in your search. i hope this info helps. If you have other questions, let me know.... KC

Going rate for New grad in S. Cali (OC)?
Because it is soooo difficult to get a job, I looked elsewhere and now from beautiful San Diego, I have to go to Baltimore MD! I have to leave everything i've known and move to a place I know nothing about. However, I am very grateful that I the opportunity to start a great program and in critical care. Goodbye San Diego, Goodbye CALIFORNIA!

Would You Go To Haiti To Help?????
I asked myself that same question and decided that I would... I registered with RNRN organization and their website is: http://www.calnurses.org/. Go there and you can read articles and get updates on nurses volunteering and relief efforts. There are currently 4500 RNs who have volunteered to go and hopefully everyone has that chance to make a difference. I myself am a new grad nurse and was excited when they said that they were going to take in New grads, what a great oppotunity for us to learn! Here is more info on how to follow them, register and contact them: Those able to support the efforts of these nurses can get involved via: www.NationalNursesUnited.org – sign up to volunteer or donate @NationalNurses on twitter or by following: #haitiRN Call the RNRN hotline: 1-800-578-8225 Support the RNRN/NNU disaster relief effort in Haiti by sending checks c/o California Nurses Foundation, 2000 Franklin St., Oakland, CA 94612. Charitable contributions will be used to pay for travel/related costs and medical supplies for volunteer RNs on their emergency nursing mission in Haiti. Hope it helped!

Accelerated Online BSN Program
University of Oklahoma has an accelerated BSN program that is done 65% online and 35% in class. The majority of online material are things you can go over and learn with groups or on your own. All the class time was dedicated to lab time, meetings, specific course work, etc. You have an exam and clinicals (12hr) every week, sometimes twice a week! Its a 14 month program and you need a Bachelors prior to attending. I went and graduated in August. Its difficult but i managed to keep a part time job on the side, attend class and study all day. You meet with a group almost ever other day to go over concepts and to study the material. People with children in this program got through it too but it was truely very dificult to keep familiy life going. If you are not diciplined this program will help you find it...If you dont think you can learn well by yourself, this program will make you do so. It is very challenging and if your up for learning alot about yourself, DO IT! I mean, i got through it....
