Hawaii to Arizona
Feels like you just need to take whatever you can get, but at the same time psych nursing isn't my thing haha, but thanks for sharing the opportunity though! It's definitely worth a shot if you wanna do psych nursing :)

HELP! RN with little experience relocating to Arizona!
Any luck so far @sfarn? As for me, I've just been applying & still no luck. I'm planning on moving in with friends at Scottsdale either July or August (with or without an RN job waiting for me). Thinking if working as a CNA or MA just to get into the system will increase our chances of getting into a new grad program? **fingers crossed!!!**

Hawaii to Arizona
Hi everyone! I'm planning to move to Scottsdale in August and have been trying to look for new grad programs online but it just seems discouraging. I have a BSN & RN license from Hawaii. Most applications require experience and though I've graduated last year, I've only been working as a CA since there are more new grads than there are positions here. Just wanted to know how difficult it is for new grads to find positions in this area and if people really need to start off as nurse aides (just like Hawaii) and work up to becoming a new grad nurse. I'm really anxious and don't know what to expect, so any advice really would help. In the mean time, I'll try to keep my head up and keep searching online for any new grad positions.

HELP! Filling Out UH MANOA Nursing App
Hello hikari808, Well what I did was that I had my official NLN scores mailed to UHM when you sign up for your NLN test date and I also printed my scores online from the NLN website and submitted that along with my application. I went to advising to double check if that was fine and they said yes. More importantly, I went to Webster 201 and actually handed in my application in an envelope. But that didn't matter since they opened it in front of me and said I was good to go. I'm still nervous about it! But, good luck to you! Let me know if you hear anything from them!

UH Manoa Fall 2010 Applicants
Thanks, petunia2016. I hope I can get in! That sounds a bit intimidating how GPAs will take a beating. How was your first semester? I didn't take Chem 152 because of the change in pre-reqs, would that make a difference on how well I'll do? I only took the Physiology and Microbiology courses.

UH Manoa Fall 2010 Applicants
Thanks :) But I lived in HI for my whole life, so UH is most convenient. & they changed the pre-reqs beginning Fall 2010, so they no longer consider anything other than GPA and NLN scores. I spoke with an advisor and was told that recommendations and experience will not be looked at...I actually work at Queen's Hospital and used to work for the vice chancellor at UHM, thinking those could "buff up" my application, unfortunately it wont. So I'm really stressing it right now, especially because my pre-req GPA will probably not be a 4.0

UH Manoa Fall 2010 Applicants
Hey everyone, I just took the NLN exam this past Friday and I'm really nervous whether my scores are good enough. My composite score is a 136, composite percentile: DI-97, AD-94, ALL-95. I haven't prepared at all for the NLN exam due to finals, I pretty much "winged it"...so I'm thinking that those who have been preparing "hard core" on this exam would probably get higher scores. Does anyone know how they look at the scores and what people scored on the NLN to get accepted to UH Manoa? How did the fall 2010 UH applicants do on the NLN exam? It's hard to enjoy winter break being this nervous! :smackingf
