Montefiore- Interview Process
Hi! I have an interview at Monte this coming week. Did they give you the medication exam the day of your interview? Or did you have a few days to prepare before your exam? I have terrible test anxiety and the possibilty of having an exam the day of my interview makes me very nervous!!!

Why hasn't the United States moved into a single payer system?
Hello all, My community textbook is unfortunately very vague in describing the difference between a single-payer system and an all-payer system. I have a good general understanding of both after browsing through the net. My question is, why hasn't the United States moved into a single payer system? Is it because we simply do not have the funds to support this system? How would this effect hospitals, medical professionals, and medical companies? Thank you all.

Graduating & Minors
Hello, I am a senior and I will be graduating this coming May. I just made my schedule for my final semester and I am very excited. I am minoring in Biology. It was brought to my attention that I only need two more credits in order to have a fine arts minor as well. I already have the credits needed to graduate so taking this art class would be extra. My question is, should I pursue this art minor in addition to already have a biology minor? Will having this additional art minor benefit me with my nursing career? Thank you!

ECG Interpretation Strips Word Associations
So I have my exam on ECG strips next week. I found a couple ECG simulator sites helpful but I'm still having difficulty trying to familiarize and memorize all these strips. What I found really helpful is using word associations to help identify the strips. For example, Atrial Flutter has a SAWTOOTH characteristic. My friend also came up with saying that Ventricular Tachycardia looks like ICICLES or LONG VAMPIRE FANGS. Anything else similar to this would really help. Please feel free to leave as much advice/tips regarding this topic or anything else that will help me distinguish the different strips from another. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Should smokers be admitted into the nursing program?
I'm not a smoker either but what a person chooses to do in their personal life and time should not determine whether or not they should be in the nursing program. In nursing the primary focus is patient care. And yes, nurses are role models as well but as long as they do not advocate for smoking, I don't see what the problem is. The real problem is having a nurse who's decisions and actions are harmful and detrimental for their patient. (For, example a nurse who steals their clients medications for their own recreational use.) Why do you think they have drug screenings!? I am a student and from my experience one of the best nursing professors that I had and learned so much from is a smoker. Aside from that, I know many other nurses who provide excellent patient care and are smokers.

Failed my first semester of fundamentals/med surg (advice?)
Thank you all so much! I've tried talking to them several times but they won't listen. I asked again but they said that they can't afford to have me transfer and that times are tough and being in the medical field will earn me a stable job. Plus they are both nurses as well. Sighssss...

Failed my first semester of fundamentals/med surg (advice?)
Hello everyone, I just failed my fundamentals/med surg with a 75, the passing rate in my school is a 77. I am completely discouraged and so embarrassed. It hurts knowing I was so close, it hurts seeing my closest friends make it and being the one left behind, it hurts being held back another year. Fortunately, my parents understand but I am so ashamed of my failure. I hate disappointing them. Nursing wasn't exactly my first choice, my parents kind of led me into it because they thought it would be beneficial for my future. I agreed and took up nursing though my true passion is in the culinary arts. They won't let me switch into another major. How can I teach myself the love nursing? The thought of having someone's life in my hands scares me. I am so embarrassed, I feel like I lost all hope in myself and in my future. Any words of advice and motivation will be fully appreciated. Thank you so much.
