  1. I am in a smilar situation as well. I have wanted to go back to school for nursing for a long time and the holdback for me is how am I going to work full time and go to school. I have to be able to keep an income and go to school. It looks like Northen Virginia Community College has opened up a night and weekend option so I have decided to go for it. They also have an online option for all the didactic courses and then you just attend the labs and clinicals onsite so that might be an option too. The only thing I worry about is I am an out of state student so admissions will give preference to in state students first and it is a very competitive program. I currently have a BS and and MBA. I have been struggling with getting an associates versus a BSN but I can always get that later. Times a waisting and I need to get things moving so I think this is the best option for me. If it is not too far from you maybe you can look at NVCC.
  2. Thanks Cymy! I will make sure the subscription comes with it. This will save me lots of money.
  3. Has anyone purchased the international version of Human Anatomy and Physiology 7th edition by Marieb? I need it for A&P I. The international version is a 1/3 of the price of the US version. All of the sellers of this book are consistent in saying that the book is exactly the same, however the cover is paperback. Has anyone used and international version? I am taking A&P I in the fall through EDUKAN and we have to type up all of the end of chapter questions so I want to make sure I am getting the right book.
  4. Mama, The link to EduKan is http://www.edukan.org. The classes are $155 per credit. EduKan is the online Community Colleges Consortium for the following community colleges in Kansas; Barton County, Colby, Dodge City, Garden City, Pratt, and Seward County. It provides you the opportunity to obtain your complete associate degree online through the EduKan consortium. Each college is now accredited to offer associate degrees online. Good Luck on your CRNA efforts!
  5. Thanks for the advice on being able to take A&P II first. I will go ahead and register for it just incase I can't get into I. If your friend does end up dropping, please let me know so I can keep checking to see when the spot opens up.
  6. I could kick myself! Yesterday when I went to register the class was available but there wasn't a syllabus and it didn't tell you what books to buy. So I emailed Dr. Simmons and he replied with the syllabus and what books we need. He told me to hurry up and register as the class fills quickly. Sure enough as I go to register today it is no longer available. I emailed him again to see if he could take another student but I haven't heard anything back yet. Has anyone taken A&P II first? Does it make things harder? He is also teaching II and the class is still open.
  7. Looks like I have John Simmons as the professor. He does not have the syllabus posted or the what book we are using and the course starts in 10 days! I would have liked to read ahead as I know its going to be very intensive. Are you going to take A&P II through them? I still have micro and chem to take as well. I am sure you will go well on your test. The chemistry is going to be hard for me as well as I haven't taken Chem yet...
  8. MelodyLPN, I am registering to start March 14th. What professor do you have? Can you tell me a little about the class and how you like it?
  9. Has anyone attended Marymount's BSN program in Arlington VA? I am thinking of applying for their 2nd degree accelerated RN program and was hoping someone could give me some insight. I know they are expensive, however NVCC and George Mason seem to have 2 year waiting lists to get in. Any other suggestions???

Has anyone been through the ADN program at Northern Virginia Community College? I am trying to decide if I want to get my associates (have an MBA so I don't know if a BSN would be beneficial since other posters have said you only need to do that to get into Mgmt...) or going to GMU for the second degree BSN. I would really like some feedback on these two schools and whether or not they have high NCLEX pass rates.
