Hello Nurses! I decided on a school, need feed back! =)
Have u checked National University? I'm taking the rest of my prerequisites there (san diego), and I will be able to apply in 6 months. It's a program for a BSN, which saves you a lot of time. It costs about $40,000, there's no waiting list. They accept people based on grades, teas test score and essay. I know they have a campus in L.A, but I'm not sure if they have nursing program there.

I don't know much about these schools, but since they are "career" schools you should check if you would be able to transfer to a community college after getting your LVN. Since most of them don't accept it, then you would have to end up getting your RN from another private school and spending more $$.

That's good that you were able to pay for it through the military. A lot of things are getting cut, hopefully I will find somehow to pay for it. And I hope the counselor can help me too :) Which part of SD do u live ? If u don't mind me asking. I'm in Rancho Penasquitos.

It's true, I think my chances would be better graduating from National. Is it easy to get financial aid? Because I couldn't possibly pay $2,000 for each class. Sorry If I'm asking too many questions :)

kaplan college in Vista
I'm glad to hear that it's a good program!! I'm not about to spend 4,000 for a cna though. I'm thinking about doing the CNA course in San Francisco. It's 4 weeks long and only $900, after that I will apply there.

So you don't need medical experience?? That's interesting.. they told me I needed it to even be considered, that's why I didn't even bother to apply. I don't have a bachelors either, so do you think I could apply? How do u like the program so far?

any brazilian nurses or nursing students in southern ca?
No, I don't have a bachelor's yet. I wasn't very serious about school until I got married hehe. :lol2:That's good to know that they only count those classes for the GPA, it seems like a really good school! The only down side is that the only available class for me is next April, June, and August. That means I would only be able to apply at the end of next year I know about Kaplan's credits not being able to transfer, but I heard University of Phoenix will accept it and people go there for their bachelor's. Thanks for all the info!!

It's about 50k, if you are not transferring any classes.. I'm not a student there though. But I did visit the San Diego campus and got some information. You also need at least 6 months of medical experience before applying to the program.

nursing in california/ advice
Thanks for all the replies, I don't have all my prerequisites done yet. I also need Anatomy & Physiology and microbiology. Those are the classes I've been trying to get into, but it's nearly impossible! I think I might become a CNA first so I can have more experience :)

nursing in california/ advice
When I decided to become a nurse I didn't know anything about nursing!! I was completely naive, didn't even know what a CNA or an LVN was. Not only that, I had no idea there were waiting lists for people who wanted to become nurses. Honestly I didn't make the decision just for $, or just because "I wanted to help people". It was a combination of different things. Now two years later, I'm still trying to get into the same classes. The schools keep raising their standards and their prerequisites. I feel like I'm being punished for not doing well in my classes before I decided to go into nursing. I'm looking to go into a private school, but I'm really scared about finding a job after I graduate. I live in Southern California, and I heard Northern California is even worse. Do you guys think things will be better in 3 or 4 years?

West Coast University- Nurse Practioner, Second degree
I don't have a lot of information about West Coast, but I was considering it a while ago until I found out I would not be able to transfer my classes anywhere else. Which means I would never be able to get a Masters after graduating from there. So you might want to check that out!

Samuel Merritt or Merritt College?
Hi! I'm just wondering if you could tell me what the requirements are to get into Holy Names for the nursing program. I know you do 2 years there before you get into SM, but do I need to have taken any specific courses before? Thanks!
-
Holy Names/Samuel Meritt
Any of you know what are the requirements to get into Holy names? I wanted to go to St. Marys, but they require that you already have anatomy and physiology. I've been trying to take them at jc for almost 2 years, but it's impossible!

Holy name school of nursing
Hi! Do you know all the prerequisites to apply there? I live in San Diego, and I went to sf to go check out St. Mary's College, but I don't have anatomy and physiology yet. It's been really hard to find a school where I can take those courses.

National University Accelerated BSN
Hello! Does anyone here know how much it costs for the BSN program? and if their credits are transferable for a masters later on? I'm also considering Kaplan college. I'm trying to decide which school to go to, since I don't want to be on a wait list for 3 years. Thanks!!!
