ABAC & Darton Nursing!
The evidence of learning in an online format is just letting them know that you've taken classes before online and how well you did in them. They want to make sure that you are a self motivated learner and can handle not necessarily learning in a traditional educational format. For me all of my pre-reqs were completed online so I just stated that in my essay as well as the fact that I had made the dean's list while being in that format. The track is just as you stated which is 5 semesters straight with minimal breaks in between (I'm so looking forward for graduation!) lol! But other than that that's about it. I heard that they are actually in the process of starting another hybrid program this coming spring semester so I wish you the best of luck!

ABAC & Darton Nursing!
I'm currently enrolled in my third semester of the Hybrid nursing program at Darton College. The hybrid program is hard, but rewarding nonetheless. I actually think that the hybrid program is actually harder than the face to face because you have to be very self disciplined in order to retain any information. We test on campus usually after clinicals which can be very tiring, but I love it and I can't believe that in less than a year I'll be done. The HESI in hindsight wasn't very hard, but get the study guide and make sure that you study your conversions. Anatomy and physiology wasn't too hard but you should still review when you can. The study guide really guides you so it's well worth the purchase. Aim for a decent overall score and you should be fine as far as entry is concerned. Good luck to you as far as entry is concerned. I'm not in the fort Benning program I'm actually in the Albany Hybrid, but all of our work is the same. The only advice that I have is to get technically savvy because you'll need it. Good luck again!

Good luck to you as well this Monday. My friend is in the evening program too and I think Monday is her first day as well.

Darton College Anyone?
i'm in the hybrid program so i don't have to go down there that often yet. this semester is only every other monday. i don't know how our clinicals will run, but i suspect it'll probably be along the lines of the evening program. so once we learn how our clinicals will be later i'm really interested in carpooling for the commute. i'm interested in a study group as well and college park is not far from me. i'm in conley which is right near ellenwood. my email is [email protected]. :)

Darton College Summer 2011
You're so welcomed. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, but don't worry about the HESI. There is an actual anatomy and physiology section on the test and that portion is only 30 questions. In hindsight that portion of the test really wasn't too hard. If you're doing pretty good in your A+P now then you should be good. You should brush up on it though. There is also a math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and self assessment on the test as well. The study guide is useful for all sections, but don't use it for anatomy and expect what was in the book to be exactly whats on the test like the other sections because that portion is just a guide. The best I can say is to relax and don't cram and you'll do fine.

Darton College Summer 2011
I think your chances are good. Just study your a+p for the HESI and you should be good. Since you're taking a+p II this summer it should be fresh. The test truly wasn't too hard, just relax before you take it is the best advice. I think if you stay on the same track that you're on you should get in with flying colors. My fingers are crossed for you, but again I think you'll do fine. :)

Darton College Summer 2011
I was just accepted into the Spring Hybrid program at Darton and I'll start on the 5th. My overall GPA is currently a 3.7, but when I applied it was around a 3.5 my HESI Score overall was an 85 though. Your GPA is good and just make sure that you study your anatomy and simple conversions for math and you should get in with no problem. I wish you the best of luck...Oh yeah the study guide is helpful in the math, vocab, and reading comprehension, but the anatomy that section is just a guide. Still a nice item to pick up though!

Thank you so much! I'll need all of the luck and blessings that I can get! I'll make sure that I get on here and let you know what to expect. Make sure that you stay up on your Anatomy and Physiology and when you retake your HESI I'm sure that you'll do great. They're already accepting the applications for Summer so just keep doing what you're doing and I have no doubt that I'll be bumping into you and Sucess88 on campus this summer! I wish you the best of luck as well and I'll be keeping in touch.

That's the same for the hybrid program as well. The first semester is every other Monday and then beginning with MedSurg I it's like the evening program like two to three times a week. I had a feeling that life would stop with nursing school, shoot it's really stopped since I've been back in school LOL! I'm ready though. We'll make this your last go round for nursing because we're graduating in July of 2012! Let me know what happens today, I look forward to meeting you! :)

Ok I know exactly where you are. I live off of Moreland Avenue in Conley which is about 10 minutes from you. I'm in the hybrid program, but I think your letter will be there soon. Which program did you apply for? Are you a student or transfer? My advisor said that if you haven't heard anything by Monday then call the nursing office because they'll have a list of the students admitted for the program. Hopefully you'll get your acceptance letter and we can form a study group because you're just a jump and a skip from me...Shoot we can carpool too! But give them a call tomorrow they'll let you know. They won't be that busy. Look forward to meeting you! :)

I agree that's the best way to go! Just take all of your pre-reqs first and that way you can focus all of your time and energy to the program because I hear that it's difficult. The less energy that you have to spend on other classes not necessarily pertaining to nursing the more you have to focus on the task at hand. I have no doubt that you'll have your space in the program this summer and I look forward to seeing you soon! I wish you the best of luck and I'm sending you and your little one many blessings on your journey! All things happen for a reason and you stike me as a very stong and determined person (like myself) you'll do fine! See you in the program future RN!

You're right. First semester in Fundamentals and Pharmacology. That's all that I have to take because I knocked all of my pre-reqs out before hand. The tuition is the same for school. There are some lab fees, but they come out of my loans and grants. I would probably expect that my total out of pocket expenses would be in the range of about 200.00 or so if those fees can't be applied to my financial aid.

It had my information about what to bring to the first day of class and an orientation schedule. It also had a calendar of what would be due and when our labs are. The envelope was pretty thick and it had a good bit of information inside. I'm praying for you! You'll have your letter today. I think they went out in the early part of the week, but with the holiday and all everything is a day behind.

LOL! Thanks! I thought I probably wouldn't hear anything until tomorrow, but GOD moves in his own fashion! LOL!!!! Yesterday was a holiday so that's why it didn't get here then. My letter was dated November 9th. I'm excited and is a firm believer that prayer changes things and walking by faith is a must! I'm so excited about my journey! Pray girl! Your letter will probably hit your box tomorrow! I look forward to seeing you at school in January!!!!!

I'm actually taking Med Term right now and I sent my application for Spring which was prior to me completing this course. So that shouldn't be a problem for you.

No problem! Darton College really has become my blessing over this last year. I've really been doing well and can finally see the light at the end of my tunnel. I felt the same way about this site when I found it, like I just needed reassurance that this is something that I can achieve. I'm glad that you're finding your way too!!!! If the book for the HESI is the 2nd edition then it's the right one. I'm sure you'll have no trouble in the upcoming semester or with the HESI exam! :)

Darton College Anyone?
Yep that's exactly what happened to me. I went to Georgia Perimeter College for like 6 years, I couldn't even get financial aid there because I had withdrawn so much in the past and I always paid for classes out of pocket. When I came to darton I started my gpa from scratch and now it's like a 3.57. I've worked really hard for that too! LOL!!! I ordered my study guide from the bookstore with my financial aid. I still use it from time to time just brushing up on conversions and stuff. If you google evolve it's like the first website to come up and you can buy the guide there it's like 35 dollars or so. You'll do fine and the earlier you start to study the better. Good luck to you as well love and I know I'll be seeing you soon at Darton in the Nursing program. :)
