  1. I agree with the other two posts, you should talk to employee assistance. As a NICU nurse for 20+ years I can certainly empathize with you. Please do not ignore the issue, it will eat at you, just know that we do our best as I am sure you did and that's all we can do. You obviously care a great deal and when you save one it helps make it all worth while. I pray for your peace of mind.
  2. Just some things to consider. Since there was no noticeable meconium aspiration maybe the diagnosis should be "Risk of Respiratory Distress due to possible meconium aspiration". I would change the intervention "monitor FHR" to monitor respiratory effort. oxygen saturation, and HR. Change educate patient to educate parents. I hope you do not think I am being critical. Best Wishes
  3. I have been a NICU nurse for 21 years and I still love it! I have had awesome experiences and blessings beyond compare. If you too much of a man to cry with a parent or show your tender side I wouldn't recommend it. One of my most proud moments was having a co-worker ask me to take care of her twins. Being a male is a big comfort to first time dads. Anyway follow your dreams and the best of luck to you.
  4. Congratulations to you both! I am closing out a 20 year career as a NICU nurse. I did 20 years in the Army, then nursing school, then straight to the NICU as a new grad. It has been everything I had hoped it would be (and some that I did not hope for . I wish you the best! Always remember "you are the babies voice". Bobby RN NICU
