Army Reserves
Hi MarkisRN, I just have a few questions for you. Are you from Illinois? If you are, I was hoping you would be willing to share the info of the recruiter you used. I am also prior service-infantry. What is your experience so far with the reserves, STRAP, and the overall experience? How does your wife and kids handle the military life. Any advice would also be appreciated.

Anyone married, with kids, and ACTIVE DUTY
Hello Everyone, I just graduated from a nursing program and considering active duty nursing (still trying to decide Army or AF). My soon to be wife is also a nurse. I was wondering if most military hospitals hire spouses fairly easily, and what about the hospitals overseas(esp. Germany). My wife supports my decision 100% but nursing really is her passion (believe it or not) and I would hate for her to hang up her dream for mine. Can you also give me your experience. What kind of shift do you work? what lenghts are deployments AF compared to ARMY? How are DOD schools compared to some civilian? How is housing? We' are thinking about kids in the future. I am prior service, but infantry--so I have somewhat of an idea. However, it was a bit ago, and infantry and nursing are two differant animals. Would you do it again? Thank you for your time. Happy New Year!

Question Guys: Do you enjoy nursing?
Hey Guys, I'm a fairly new nurse working for a medical/surg floor. I just want to know your experience of nursing as a male in the field, how many years you've been doing it, and what area you are in. I have to be honest, everytime I drive to work I'm convinced I made the wrong career choice. I work 12 hour night shifts. I actually enjoy working nights. I'm tired of the constant reminders that I am a "male", the need to prove my sexual orientation, a-hole doctors, ****** women and some men, no lunch on most days and still get deducted, and some dangerous staffing ratios and expected to just suck it up. Guys, I enjoy patient care and the interaction, but how do you deal with the rest of it that comes with the job. I know better than most, that each job has its BS. I can handle alot, I am a former 7 year Army infantry veteran, twice in combat, but there are days where I wish I was back in the sandbox. I was also an ER tech, however it is very difficult to be a new grad in the ER. I get constant assurances that "just get your experience and transfer" or "it will get better". Does it get better?
