  1. ugh...that is very frustrating, sorry i've been checking their weather update thing on their website, and it seems like the school has pretty much been closed all week. it sounds like the snow really messed stuff up down there. i know at least some admissions staff have been working from home, because they alluded to it in an email i got (saying they would send the hard copy of my acceptance letter in the mail as soon as they were back in the office). not sure if anyone is in the office or not. maybe try calling or emailing admissions if you haven't already? good luck!
  2. As amojo said, the deposit is not binding for us. it just ensures our spot and is then applied to our tuition if we end up going to that program. its def not cheating to put down deposits at more than one place. since the schools are all on different schedules with acceptances and financial aid offers, they are kind of asking for that. of course, its good manners to inform a school as soon as you know you won't be attending, so they can offer the spot to someone else.
  3. I'm in for FNP!!! :) yayayay
  4. Hi Marinara and sara, I'm in a similar situation as well. I'm still waiting to hear about acceptance from one school and they claim they will give us our aid packages by march 1st. i'm waitlisted at another, which complicates things even further. I'm feeling really good about hopkins, so I'm definitely putting my deposit down. I do feel like i will be sort of blindly committing, money-wise, but as thats the only option they are giving us, I'm taking it! loans loans loans! calling FA is a good idea. i might do that also....once the school reopens! good luck with your decision!
  5. hey abbie grace the same thing happened to me- when i called admissions they told me they were making acceptance calls today and tomorrow and said i should wait to hear. i ended up getting my call at 4:45pm, as i was leaving work! i would be shocked if you got the email by accident. i think you're in :) they probably just didn't get to your call yet. hang in there!
  6. I got my acceptance call!!! Now I really believe it- I'm in! yayyyyyyyyy! congrats to all! Looking forward to meeting everyone at accepted students day.
  7. I called Admissions to tell them I got the email from financial services, but haven't received an acceptance call. She told me that financial services "got ahead of themselves" and that admissions would be making acceptance calls through the end of today and into tomorrow. she told me to wait for my call and didn't confirm if i was accepted or not, which is kind of annoying, but oh well. so, in case there are others who are still waiting, try not to fret!
  8. they still haven't called me! abbiegrace and javabean, have either of you got a call yet???
  9. I applied to FNP as well. I'm with you Beth, what will be, will be, and I'll make the best of it.
  10. OMG! i just got an email from JHUSON Office of Student Financial Services saying "Welcome to The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing! We are pleased that you have chosen our school for your nursing education" and then with a bunch of info about financial aid. but i haven't got an acceptance call yet! this is so strange. i'm accepted? i guess? ah!
  11. this is insanity
  12. oh Columbia, that is just MEAN! thanks for the heads up though. well- good luck gettting through the weekend everyone!
  13. Thanks for the reply amojo99. Yeah- i thought the class was going to be around 70-80, but i wasn't sure if they told you all an exact number on your acceptance letters. I'm just waiting for my other decisions to come in, and then i'll go from there. There are a lot of people on penn's waitlist this year, but they said some would drop off. only time will tell my fate...
  14. I'm just going to tough it out. I GUESS a day (or two or three or four...) won't kill me. And calling the office isn't going to give me my decision sooner... its just nice to vent/complain on this forum and wallow in our collective misery, which will hopefully soon be followed by collective happiness!
  15. oh, the agony! I actually might lose my mind if we don't find out tomorrow.
  16. i was reaaaaaalllly hoping we would find out today, but i think i'm with you kdrose01, we'll probably find out tomorrow. i'm looking forward to being able to stop obsessively checking my email and this forum. i just want to know!!!
  17. they'll only look at your parents' income if you are a dependent. FAFSA has an online worksheet to determine dependent status http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/fotw1011/WorksheetServlet?locale=en_US&wstype=WSDEP
  18. hey there. i applied to ABSN/MSN (FNP). i think there was a very qualified group of applicants and unfortunately there aren't enough spots for everyone. we'll see..... good luck to you.
  19. hey ooooladoula- thanks a lot, that info is really helpful. i remember reading about that a while ago and kind of forgot about it with all this anxiousness.
  20. ha..hi Beth- I didn't see your post before i wrote mine. seriously!!! i don't understand how they could sent out aid letters either! ah!
  21. hm...thats interesting. i haven't completed my FAFSA yet (waiting to do my 2009 taxes first). I wonder how they would send out aid offers without that information...
  22. I also interviewed at the end of December and was told I would hear by end of Jan/beginning of Feb, but that looks like its not going to happen! From past posts, it seems we will be notified the old fashioned way, via telephone or a letter in the mail. good luck!
  23. uuuuuggggh. i was REALLY hoping we would find out today. "by the end of the week"....well we could still find out today...maybe? good luck everyone!
  24. I'm on the waitlist....*sigh* Does anyone know how large the accelerated BSN class is this year? Thanks!
  25. Hey everyone. So, I was reading the ETP thread from last year (I'm just DYING for some information!) and it seems that people found out Feb 3rd-4th. I guess Columbia sent out emails saying that decisions were available online. We should hear this week... Good luck everyone!
