Do you feel ISU is a better route than something like Excelsior? I am an LPN looking at getting my RN. I am so confused about all the info out there. I don't know if I should do RN or BSN...any thoughts? How do the clinicals work with ISU? If I understand Excelsior right, there are no clinicals except for the CPNE exam. It's pass or fail. One could go through the entire program and fail the CPNE and be out.

Thanks for all the feedbacks. I need to hear all those positives to get me into gear. I have been thinking about doing this for years. I could of been done by now! I know it will be alot of hard work but this forum sure gives that extra push to get started and stick with it:)

I couldn't agree more about the VA. Ever since I interviewed there earlier this year I just can't stop thinking about the people I saw there. I just can't imagine a job that would give you more gratification then helping all the Veterans. My husband is in the military and my father a Vietnam Vet so it would mean so much to me to have the opportunity to help them. Not to mention the great deal of variety it would offer. I am envious of you:) By the way...thank you for your service!

That's great you work for the VA. Whereabouts? I have been trying to get into the VA for a few years. My husband is employed for the Federal Govt and has the same benefits/retirement that the VA has, which are awesome! I interviewed for the VA in Ann Arbor earlier this year and then they had a hiring freeze. But then last week I had another call from the VA for. I was so excited. They are supposed to call me back this week to schedule an interview. I know it's difficult to get into the VA. That's great for you! By the way, do they assist you in paying for your RN in any way? As far as RUE, I have not checked into them so I think I will do that. I want to take the route that is the simplest program to understand. I must admit I have been very confused by all the info out there. Do you feel you are understanding the info well? I mean without being in a classroom type setting with instructors?

Thank so much for the info. So you have one year left....when did you start? I hear mixed info on the duration of the course. Are you doing ASN or BSN?? So you are going through RUE. I was considering Excelsior. But not sure which is better. Can you tell me why you decided to go with RUE? Are the books you have good for either? I am confused about Excelsior. Can someone explain?? I have been an LPN 13 years and would like to get my RN. The waiting list is to long at my local college. Is Excelsior the best way to go? I don't understand what the istudy guides are? Any help would be appreciated.
