How do they even know if its concurrent! My ces just lists all the hours in each speciality both theory and clinical not when these hours where completed!

I was wondering if anyone can clarify something for me! I am an English RN aiming to become an RN in the USA after I immigrate as the husband of a US citizen! My CES report shows I lack hours in Paediatrics and Midwifery but I intend to make these hours up when I am there and reapply to SBON for licence by examination! My concern is I have recently been seeing a number of posts where people are denied because of concurrency issues! From what I have read about this does this mean that these states are denying people because their clinical practise in a speciality are not taking place in the same semester as the relevant theory instruction? Is that correct!!!!! So for instance you would have to do so many weeks theory in midwifery then follow that with clinical practise in midwifery? If this is the case how do we know if our education was concurent (Should it specify on the CES report)?????? My education was divided in approximately 5 weeks theory then 5-6 weeks clinical but the clinical was not always related to the theory that we just completed more just a rotation of different specialities across the whole length of our training! Does this mean my education would not meet the concurrency requirements?????

I have over 11 years experience in both acute emergency surgery and long term care facilities! I have been employed as a nursing assistant and an rn. I don't expect to get work or even seek work as an RN as I have to make up hours before being eligable for NCLEX! I would be seeking emploment as a CNA so I can still doing a job I love and gaining experience in the US healthcare field help me progress towards being an RN again!As an International RN I can apply to the PA Dept of education to sit the CNA exam without doing the training course! So I will be looking for CNA recruitment not RN. And sending my resume before I immigrate is about networking and seeing which potential employers maybe interested once I get Dept of educationapproval.

I have a quick question!!! I am an English RN waiting to move to PA as the spouse of a USC! I need to make up hours to sit NCLEX which I would like to do in the USA. I want to apply to department of education to sit CNA exam. My questions are do healthcare employers in the US value the experience of international RNs? Will the fact that I have no US employment history hinder my chances? If i send out resumes before i immigrant will this improve my chances of getting my first employment in the US? Thank you

Hi Thankyou very much for the response, i had not heard of the blended resume before but it seems similar to what I did, because I want to emphasize my skills but not de-emphasize my experience. I will put my skills in categories with headings such as - Assisting with activities of daily living Contributions to enhancing the working environment Clinical skills Team working skills and communication Specialist skills Client assessment and planning care and under each heading put the key skills I have developed in each heading. Then the professional experience (dates, workplace, position held, promotions, brief description about the type of place e.g 34 bedded emergancy surgery ward) then just list healthcare related education education. when you say Long Term Acute Hospitals (LTAC) do you mean places like lifecare hospitals of Chester county, if so I have them on my list of people to send resumes. I have list of all the hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation hospitals, long term acute care hospitals and short term rehabilitation homes in the area and plan to email them nearer the time with resumes. I will have resumes slightly different obviously as what is appropriate for a hosiptal will not be for a nursing home (e.g "working together to promote a prompt and safe discharge" may sound good to the hospital but irrelevant to the long term nursing home). And I am researching all the places I will email so I aim the cover letter at them by considering their missions and values. Hi All I am an RN in England but cant yet sit NCLEX as I lack some theory hours. I am hoping to emigrate to PA next year as I am the spouse of a US citizen! Before I move I would like to email my resume to local hospitals and nursing homes in the attempt of potentialy finding employment as a CNA for when I get there and have Department of Education approval to sit the CNA exam. I have over 11 years healthcare experience in England, 3 as an RN and 8 as a Nursing assistant prior to that. I wrote a chronological resume at first but many of the skills overlapped in the different jobs I had as although my career progressed many of the skills I had from early in my career I have continued to develop and I was repeating myself on the skills for each job. I have had 2 main employers over the time but my job title changed over the time. In my resume I want to emphasize the earlier skills I had related to the nursing assistant role rather than the skills I have developed more recently as an RN. I have read functional resumes are good if you have no experience in the job you are applying or have had significant gaps in employment and potential employers may see a functional resume and presume you have no relevant skills or gaps in employment! This is not true in my case but I am afraid a potential employer may just think that and disregard my resume, yet the chronological resume does not work for me as the RN only related skills are at the top and I dont want the potential employer to be confused about the position for which I am applying. If I state I have 11 years healthcare experience with no gaps in employment on the cover letter do you think this would help to prevent the employer thinking otherwise? For my situation can anyone give me feedback on which resume is the most appropriate? Thankyou

I never really got an "application packet" just the information i downloaded when i downloaded the form and i dont see anything on there about the criteria

Hello and thankyou,,, I emailed NM BON to find out the hours in Paeds and Obs that I lack and need to make up. This is the response i got "you need to read the instructions in the application packet. Or talk to you evaluating agency to assist you" The application packet I downloaded with the Application for and this does not state the hours that they need to met. Also would the evaluating agency be the CGFNS? If this is the case how can they help me because they just evaluate my credentials,,, they dont set NM's standards to be met. I just feel like they are fobbing me off,, like i am a nuisance and wondered if anyone else has trouble with NM???? Thanyou

Thankyou Gingers Mom, Do you know how and where I can complete these in the UK? and would they be as transferable to the USA as if I were to do it in the USA? I have read so much on here that it is easier to make up hours in America, do they not combine paeds and obs?????? and i would still have to do about 60 hours in both paeds and obs clinical and theory so would it not be about the same length?? I am planning to work in PA but they still require certification programme. That is why I applied through NM, I was then going to apply by endorsement to PA. Is NM likely to accept transcripts from a PA college that I make hours up with?????

i found out today that i need to make up hours in paeds and obs..... i emailed them and they said my file was incomplete for that reason. they did not tell me how many hours i need to make up!!!!! would it be easier for me to make these hours up in america????? how do i go about it????? is it something that can be done through a college online our would i have to enrol in college and if so how many hours should i be expected to make up?????
