Okay so I know what an RN is and a LPN, and the difference is an RN can insert IV's and have more responsibilities, so can an LPN work in the hospital or ER? also, if I become a LPN, how much more school and tests would I have to do to become an RN? Now im confused I dont know what a CNA is? is that only nursing homes? thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your response, and your right def alot to think about, some serious choices to be made. yes my husband will probably be extremely upset, but ive made the decision that its not about his happiness anymore, its about mine. Ive been working for him for three years and its been a nightmare for me. Its about time I focus on me and only me. babysitting is no problem as i have parents and my inlaws that cant get enough of the baby. Im not sure what type of nurse i wanted to be, but i did picture a hospital atmosphere, maybe the maternity wing? not sure if this is easy to get into or not. I am calling my local schools and inquiring it will probably take me a few months to make this decision as there are many other things to be considered! again thank you for your response! One quick question, how do I know if there is a high demand where I live for LPN or RN's? Would the school know? I know you said the economy is bad, but Ive heard that nurses have been high in demand for a few years, dont know if this is still true, but where could I go to get accurate info on this? Thanks!!

Thanks so much for all your responses!! i def appreciate it! and I am inspired to do this. i really want to, but dont want to leave my husband high and dry, as he depends on me to work for him. but on the flip side im so not happy working for him and living his dream! and like one of the women on here said if i got divorced my education and career would be forever! I am def doing all my research, and will probably start school in september, unless i can start in jan and get all my facts together, someone also mentioned online i will def look into that!! thanks so much!!

thank you ladies! i appreciate the replies. i def would love to become a nurse something i always wanted to do and never pursued it. now im living my husbands dream, and i just cant do that to myself! plus i feel i would be a great nurse, as I love helping people, and making someone comfortable, and I very interested in the medical field!

I am 33 years old, with no college maybe a credit or two i only went for Six months, a very long time ago! anyway I worked in the city ever since 2006. I got married and started working for my husband, thats a whole nother story. I just had a baby a couple of months ago. My question is, is it to late for me to become a nurse, have I missed the boat for this career? It sounds like 3 years of school, if i get accepted. I just wanted some honest personal opinions, as I am torn! Thanks in advance!!

great thanks, so its not strictly nursing classes? you would have to take some liberal classes as well? they dont have Nursing schools that specialize in that field? wow two years, im 33. I guess two years isnt so bad. I did college but barely have credits. the choices you make when you are young def affect you when your older!

Hello everyone, I am new to this website, and I am very interested in becoming a nurse. I always wanted to, but life always led me in different patterns, now is not a good time either, but im tired of making excuses! i want to pursue my dream! I dont know anything about this field, hard to find info online, and I dont have any friends or family in the field. I am so thankful I came across this website! Are there different stages of school for different nurses? for ex: how long does an RN go to school, and do all nurses become RN? or not? If I go to school and become a nurse, can I pick and choose where, like for example, if i want to work in a hospital, or nursing home, or school, or doctors office? is there different titles? also how much money do nurses make, like does a nurse in the emergency room make more than a nurse in a nursing home? or is that irrelavant? So how long is nursing school? is it only offered by colleges? any advice on where i can go to get started or find out information and who when and where? sorry for the 50 questions, im just excited and want to learn as much as I can!
