UBC Okanagan
I called a couple of weeks ago to ask about the admission process as a degree holder from the US. They let me know that GPA is calculated based on only the last 30 credits completed for the degree program. Therefore, I am basing my GPA average on only the last 10 classes (3 credits per class) I completed for my bachelors degree.

Students on the MCC waiting list: lets get a jump start on studying
Mica/KF, I will not be able to attend on Saturday. I have to squeeze in some quality family time this weekend and Saturday was the only day that everyone could get together. I will try to keep up on my reading though. I may fall behind a bit since my husband and I will be on our honeymoon during the last 2 weeks of May. Then I start CHM130 the following week after we get back. Maybe we can have a much more consistent reading/study schedule in July. Then we can include the newest addition to our study group at that time as well. -Amanda

Mica/KF, Unfortunately, I will not be able to join you two on Sat for the study session. However, I will try to keep up on my reading/studying. I believe we are just focusing on care plans for now. If either of you wouldn't mind letting me know which topic I should read/study next and when we are planning on meeting up again. Thanks, Amanda

Oh, ok...that's right, in that other post you weren't talking about your timestamp, but the larger group in Oct: "That would make sense to have a larger group in the October timestamps, if the application period was June 1-July 31st, then anyone who would have finished their pre-reqs in Spring semester 2008 would be given an October timestamp, would most likely would be a lot of people when you near the end of a semester... So I am guessing the October and Feb groups would tend to be the largest, but it looks good for you to get into the Fall Semester 2010, don't lose patience yet! lol I wish I knew which schools were the most/least popular.... " I guess I lucked out with an August timestamp then if I turned in my June 1st-July 31st!

I saw your other post where you mentioned that you turned in your application in that June 1st - July 31st timeframe and got an October time stamp. I turned in my application in the same timeframe in 2009 and got an Aug 14th time stamp. Weird...maybe they stamped them differently in 2009. I will take the CNA course at PVCC in the fall. I was thinking about getting it done much faster somewhere else, but am a bit concerned about my safety. I've been to PVCC before and feel comfortable there. Also, I'm not really in any rush to get the CNA cert since I wont begin the RN program until Jan of 2011 anyway. Yeah, I know what you mean about Tuesday seeming so far away...it always is when you're expecting something big to happen...GL on getting placed! It sounds like you've waited long enough and since you have 5 choices you should be good to go!

KF, If your date time stamp was 2/09 I'm sure you'll get in Fall 2010. My date time stamp was 8/09 so I may have to wait until Spring 2011 though...unless some kind of miracle happens. LOL I registered to take Patho this summer @ SCC along with CHM130 since I plan to go straight to ASU after the Maricopa ADN is done. I would wait until the fall semester, but I'm taking a CNA class since I will need to work while I'm in school. I work full time days now, but will not have an option to work PT or nights/weekends. Also, I am not willing to wait at least an additional year to get into a PT or weekend program since those are so low capacity. Not worth it to me. CNA exp will look great on my resume anyway! I guess we could always wait until you find out if you got placed for Fall 2010 and then get those books. Then I could get the same books and study from those. I'm sure I'd be able to eventually use those books the following semester too so why not!

Mica/KF, Yes, I am definitely still interested in the study group. I'm getting married in 2 weeks from Sat so I'm a tad bit on the busy side until then. Also, I fell and fractured my fibula while I was in Vegas last weekend for my bachelorette party. LOL Needless to say, now I have something else to deal with besides wedding planning. It is a minor fracture so I doubt I will be too debilitated to get around and meet up you guys for some studying on the weekends. I will be ready to meet up with you both the weekend of April 10th. Just let me know which day and what time. My schedule that weekend is pretty much open. However, I would rather meet up at Desert Ridge. Maybe the Starbucks inside the Barnes and Noble would be a good place to get together. Let me know what you think. -Amandaleigh

Holy smokes! Ugh is right! Yeah, 12 hour shifts will be nothin for you when the time comes! LOL I looked up the open summer classes and I may be able to swing a Hybrid course @ SCC...meets in classroom only 3 times during the semester and mostly online instruction. Do you think that's worth it?

Mica, I can't start studying until mid-April (getting married first weekend in April), but you all can begin without me. Which text are you using for Pathophys? I've seen so much advice about taking that class before nursing school...I may just read the book and try to absorb as much as possible without actually taking the class. I'm taking a chem class this summer and a cna class this fall while working full-time. Otherwise, I'd bite the bullet and just take the class!

I think this is a brilliant idea! I am interested in meeting for a study group, but live in far east Scottsdale (FLW & Shea area). Are you flexible as far as where we meet? Perhaps Desert Ridge would be a more centralized location since it's right off of the 101. Also, I would rather wait until mid April before beginning to study since I am getting married in early April. I still have a lot of stuff to get done before the big day. I found all of those books on Amazon for reasonable prices and already have an iPod touch. I am very excited about, as you put it, "getting a leg up" on nursing school! My date/time stamp is 8/14/09 and hopefully I will begin block 1 in Jan of 2011 since I have selected all 5 choices. This will also be my second degree since I already have a useless Communications degree from ASU! Blah! Let me know if you're still interested. Thanks!

PVCC/JCL Spring 2010 Priority Placement Acceptance
Nothing yet...I'm expecting an email sometime after 5pm letting us know the applications are still pending...LOL Yeah, it really is amazing...I've been so frustrated and anxious for so long that I'm really just fed up. I'm fighting myself about calling them though...i'm sure a few people have done that already...not that it makes a difference...it's so hard to be patient!
