I'd say become proficient in being able to turn the objectives into questions and being able to answer them.....I heard that was the best way to do it. I think it also depends on your professor....

If you can do a search with the isbn number, or google the book, you'll find a few of the books with cds. I've gotten all of my books online and some have come with cds.

LOL, tell me about it.....they made it so the onliners have to go to two orientations, the one on the 5th and then another on the 6th....I sure do hope things aren't this disorganized once we get going.

They sent out an email with the booklist. Also, in central campus, bldg 8 they have the list up on the wall, in the nursing dept where you drop off all the papers. Aside from that, I think a few people, including myself have posted the booklist that covers the first semester. I'm not sure if it's in this thread, but just do a search "broward college booklist" if not, PM me, I don't mind sending you a copy. :)

Yes, I called and they told me that as well as to follow the professor's individual blogs. If you look at your schedule, now it says the orientation date and time as well as other pertinent info under each course and the professor's blog info. We have to purchase the orientation packets on Jan 3rd.

When you go into bldg 8, right as you walk in, you're going to see a sign with a red arrow pointing to the right that'll say nursing documents turn in or something like that. So you'll follow the arrow and walk down that hallway and at the end of that hallway you'll see 3 cubicles, 2 on the left and one big one on the right, those ladies are the ones you're going to turn your stuff into. I gave my stuff to the lady in the big cubicle to the right and the lady in the first cubicle to the left turned out to be the notary so they have you doing like 4 different things at a time because the lady that I turned my stuff into went through everything right then and there. She also had me sign something and she gave me something else, like a receipt. She'll also tell you that a nurse is going to go through your health docs and contact you if there's any issues. Oh, and she also has a booklist with all the books we need for the first semester highlighted, that way we know what can wait and what can't. Copies of the booklist will be on the wall so you can copy what she has underlined unless you remember to bring your own. Hope this helps a bit : ) So, I have a question of my own...is anyone else having financial aid issues? Like does your schedule still say you owe like 1500 dollars and financial aid hasn't kicked in? I've gone to the fin aid office like 3 times and they still can't get it right. Frustrated is an understatement...

Yea, I must've read it wrong.....I understood it like we had to have the stuff in before dec. 1st...imagine me freaking out all month when we had an extra day....sheesh. Sorry about that.....

You turn things in at bldg 8. They check it and notarize it. A nurse will look through the physical forms for any issues and if she finds any she will email you. I would call them up because as I understood it, you had to drop things off by the 1st of December, although I may be wrong.....I wish you the best of luck. I just got my stuff in today and had been stressing since orientation to get things done. Believe me you guys aren't the only last minute-ers.

Yes, that tetorifice shot sure does hurt...I got it done like 3 weeks ago and I can still feel a little soreness.....oh well. I hope that's not one of the ones we have to get every year...

So do you know what the codes are for the other courses we taking after the first semester? like is it nur1220 and the lab? like what does nur1220 mean or the other ones we have? What do you do in GI/GU? And if you start in the Winter is that the only course you're taking in the first summer since we have the second part of the summer off? How does it work? Thanks!

Friday I'm going to go see about hopefully getting the background check done, if not on Mon. Then on Tues, varicella and off to turn everything in.....I already have my physical forms and all the other documentation ready...these are the last two things I have to do.....can't wait til it's over! sheesh

......oh and I didn't make it to the drug testing site til 3pm....been cutting it close most of this month, it seems.

this is what i've got on the 30th: 915am get my varicella vaccine. then, whenever that's done and over with haul it to the background check place and when that's done haul it over to bcc and hand everything in. i do have the results of the online background check, do you know if we hand those results in or just the receipt that we did it? i got double copies of everything but have to invest in another folder because mine's ragged from obssessive opening and closing and check and re checking....lol. i see your name on fb. glad i know how to pronounce it now. : ) i'm still missing some books, that makes me think that xmas might be a bit tight for me and the kids....thinking outside the box here, would it be horrible if i made a paper mache xmas tree and glued it to the wall instead of investing in a real one? hehe, just trying to cut some corners to make up for the excess costs of all these pre admission checks. oh, and i also got back a white paper from the drug testing place....guess it must've been about where you went to get it done...

ok, so I think your signature was the one I saw around 11am-ish? lol! I went to the drug test but wasn't able to do the background check...ran out of funds with the 2 extra shots I needed. So I was going to ask you, what was the experience at the background check place? Like what do they do and do you get your results or how does it work? I have my physical form completed but have to wait until the 30th to actually take the documents up because that's when I'm getting my varicella shot and it's also when I'll be able to do the background check (Thanksgiving is literally getting in my way)....talk about cutting it close.

I went on blackboard but it says we won't see our courses til the prof opens them up for the semester. So far all I saw on the blog was the getting to know you exercise we're going to do in the orientation....I guess that's pretty much it so far. I'm going to see about my physical today. I'm guessing I'll be turning everything else in pretty much last minute cuz of financial issues....oh well, at least I'll get it there. They don't need the background check results, just proof that you did it, right?

We're not doing it because it's easier. I'm sure it would be easier to go to class. We do it because it's the option that best fits our circumstances.....

See you in January, This was my original msg so that you understand the context: Hello Professor, My name is ***** and I will be one of the online nursing students in the upcoming Jan 2011 class. I have read a few things here and there that have confused me a bit and I was hoping that you could help me clear them up. The first question I had was with regards to the orientation scheduled for January 6th, 2011, for the face to face students it states they will meet from 9 - 3pm in building 8, rm 232. Does that apply for the online students as well? My other question pertains to homework. The face to facers were told to read the first six chapters of the nursing fundementals book for the first day of class, does this apply to the online students as well? If not, do we have any type of homework at all which should be completed by the first day? Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to this email. : ) ************************************************************************************* At least we have some answers...now with regards to the pharm book....I'm still at a loss.

...and another question: For pharm are we using the Lilley book or the Deglin book because the face to face classmates are apparently using the Lilley bundle....now I'm confused.
