I have been researching my options as a APN and I called a local CRNA school and I had a great conversation and I was suprised to hear that they do not ask their students not to work during their time there and they certainly do not have them sign anything that requires the student not to work. I am considering CRNA school at the same school I am interested in getting my BSN from but I would like to pick up a ew M-Shifts where I work. Thates where you can pick up a shift anytime 4 hours up to a 12hr shift. It's very flexible and I am already in the critical care unit and I plan to maybe pick up one 12 shift here and there just to have a bit of spending money. Does anyone else work Bid shifts or Part time? I was also told by a student that he just picks up shifts when he can he's labled as a PRN Nurse and he gets extra income with Bid shifts, he has three kids so he needs some money coming in. he just told me not to ever work more than two days a week.

I am finally at the point in my life where I am returning to school and pursuing a dream of becoming a Nurse Practioner. I took this year to get some Halth Care experience under my belt and I really enjoy working alongside a NP she has really good things to say about the profession. I have always wanted to be a MD but now I am older have a family I decided focusing on becoming a Acute Care Nurse Practioner would be perfect for me but I also have a huge interest in Anesthsia and I figure I would work as a NP a few years then I may apply to a NA program. I figure the ACNP career would be a great start for becoming a CRNA and I can see in a few years if thats what I truly want if not I can just stick with the NP profession. I feel it would be better than becoming a MD and the plus is I will have a income and I can learn so much just by working my way up the Nursing ladder. I want to learn all I can in the Nurse field and I think being a CRNA in the end just like many set the goal of geting a Ph.d in many careers will suit me perfectly. Has anyone pursued a career in Nursing this way if so any advice would be great and are you happy you took it step by step as I plan to do BSN,NP,and later CRNA. I habe found a great school that offers a RN-MSN option at a well respected Nursing school in my City (St.Louis,MO). This seems really exciting for me it's like mapping out all my career goals with my top Achievement being a well rounded CRNA and possibly open a Practice of my own. I would love some input, advice, opinions!! Or do I just sound NUTS!!!! Thanks Nurses!
