  1. Ohh I see the "jobs" that no one can fill are non-exsistent-well maybe I will finish with my pre-req's then see if the job market gets better for nurses-did you ever think of going into another healthcare field?
  2. Wow! Great advice!!! I guess reading the news and headlines are always: Nurses are in demand! So I decide to get into nursing because: I can make a difference, pay seems good=but being on this forumn I noticed that a lot of people can't find jobs and that is scary to me- I will look into Erwin as I never heard of it-
  3. I received my B.S.degree in Psychology from Regis University in Denver, CO (private Jesuit college)-everything is completed except Anatomy II and Microbiology-which I will take in the spring- I'm leaning more towards the LPN at Galen and here's why- I have to work-Galen offers evening LPN programs as SPC you have to start at 1-I have a full time job and have to keep it-once I receive my LPN license I'll apply to USF & complete the bridge program-while I'm in the RN program I can work and gain experience as a LPN
  4. To Blondie and RNhopeful: You will always find evil people everywhere in every profession-it's a fact of life-but both of you please believe that you are making a difference in this world and stay positive! It's what you believe not what others perceive....
  5. Wow! You have been very helpful-may I ask you a question? What made you want to become a LPN instead of going straight into an RN program? My thinking is I've never been in the health field-I want a second career and I'm not willing to gamble on spending that much money without first having experience-plus wouldn't people want to hire me if I've been a LPN first?
  6. Okay-I've completed 2 out of the three pre-req's-I have a bachelor degree in Psychology so all of my general classes are completed-as well. So you liked Galen? Is there a wait? I'm going to try and take a tour in the next week-do you know how many times they accept new students? I recieved some informaion from the school but I didn't see it- Thanks!
  7. Hi Everyone: I've decided to become an LPN! I have no idea which colleges/programs are accredited and will be accepted to become an RN-I honestly have only found one. I spoke with Galeon Nursing School in St. Petersburg-anyone ever been there? Do the credits transfer? Any assistance would be great!
  8. Wow! What can I say..I'm sorry and I'm sure you are a great nurse! If it gives you any comfort that kind of thing happens in all careers-I worked for a company where no one had people skills-keep your head high knowing that you make a difference! :heartbeat
  9. Wow Thanks for the great advice! I need to do a little more research-I live in Florida-hardley any schools have nursing (any that are in a 50 mile radius)and massive waiting lists-
  10. I have a question for the LPN's-I have asked on other posts about getting into nursing-I have a degree and work in Accounting (shoot me in the head)-anyway, a lot of people tell me NOT to become an LPN first-why? I have no healthcare experience and for me training for a second career seems a little overwhelming-if I become an LPN isn't that a nurse? Won't that be the stepping stone I need if I want to further my education if I want? Also for the person who is sick of being an LPN-it happens in other fields as well-everyone asks to speak with the CPA and the CFO-because I don't have tha title people think I'm dumb...trust me you have a have thick skin-I could care less-I do the best job I can everyday...
  11. Wow! We are similar in terms of what we want-I agree, I wonder everyday why I'm in the job I am (finance/accounting) I'm not passionate about it and I am beginning to dread going to work everyday-so what's the point? Yes, I think I will look into the RN program more-I need 2 prerequ-I'm in one now( just started)-I try not to worry if I can't "cut it" so to speak...should I start studying for the entrance exam now? Did you?
  12. How funny! I just moved to Florida a few months ago so I don't know the schools yet-I'm in St. Pete/Tampa area-I was thinking of going for my LPN then doing the bridge to RN-I have a degree already but I heard there is a massive wait list to get into schools- I'm in Human Anatomy right now and I'll take Anatomy II in the spring, then I'll either apply to LPN or RN school. I have to do this part time as I need a full time job to pay the bills...I think that is why I'm so nervous...I can't do the business thing any longer-I hate sitting all day and not making a difference-my job has no meaning-I was about to enter my second year of my MBA and I can't do it anymore....
  13. What's FAU? What made you decide that the career change is the right time? I guess I'm scared-I really want to do this but it's going to be a big change...
  14. really? well right now i'm starting human anatomy-i quit my mba program-i hate it..i work in the accounting/finance field-i hate it-so may i ask where you live? i would love for you to keep me posted, as i seem overwhelmed by where to start-i've received so much advice..don't do this, do this...i just want to change careers and have a career not a job.
  15. NO Not TMI-that is great! My dad was a cop and I tried out twice-but it didn't work out for me...I would be put on a waiting list then my application would expire and I would have to start over-anyway I wanted to be a nurse since college and for some reason I never pursued it-so did you like being a CNA? What was your days like? How do you like LPN school?
