  1. no, i had not tried that... I guess it just comes down to how you analyze the questions when it comes to the actual exam. it's just that Kaplan does simplify the techniques to be used on how to answer the questions,plus the questions are really good too...
  2. i also used Kaplan,it was the 2007 edition but i still passed even if i only took the exam this sept, I also used the lippincott M.S. it also helped me...you just have to practice on answering as many questions as you can to be comfortable when you actually have to take the exam. don't forget to read about diseases & procedures, bec. those are the core of the NCLEX... goodluck
