  1. Hello IEN's! Have you received your OSCE result? I am one of those who took the pioneering exam. I have heard nobody successfully passed the exam with no identified competency gaps. Is this true? I have the information that the gaps have to be addressed in the university level. Anybody out there who is on the same boat as mine? Please be informed that the Fairness Commissioner is holding a meeting for IEN this Aug. 8 to hear our experience in the registration process. It would really be helpful if more IEN would be around to express their concerns.
  2. I am only speaking based on my experience with the CNO. FYI:janfrn, I have passed all my requirements timely. We even know a couple of friends submitted their requirements 3 months before I started and they got their eligibility to take the exam. We all have same credentials and experience. The only difference is we all have different assessor and time we started our application. My point here is, the CNO has so much lapses in registration process. They lack uniformity, no specific timeframe etc. I am not the only IEN with this kind of sentiment. Furthermore, I wouldn't be sharing this without sufficient reasons and concrete basis. I have so much respect in nursing profession, so I'm expecting some competence from them. Aside from the fact that we paid enough to get the assessment done. I respect your opinion and I wouldn't be discussing my personal reasons why I've chosen to stay here in Ontario.
  3. nmlola, frustrating indeed!
  4. Hi Nmlola and caleo, our sentiments are the same re; cno registration process. Update on my side, they asked me to take Objectively structured clinical examination. This is something new to EIN to prove our education is equivalent to the ontario RN grad. So far, this coming march is the first exam. Unfortunately, nobody can advise as to how to prepare for this exam since this is new. Accdg to cno, this would determine which courses need to be taken to complete the assessment. I started my application jan 2011, my safety practice expired already with their 3 yr safety practice requirement. If they are only efficient in processing application perhaps I will not be affected with their new rules. I feel bitter still because I can't believe this is happening in canada. my rn registration process in the US is more timely and organized.

Vangold, you are not alone. I share your sentiments and even wrote Nurse manager from CNO to express my frustrations and how inefficient they are on the registration process. I keep pushing my application last year because my safety practice expired last dec 2012. Knowing the new rule, I was so anxious to hear feedback from them if my application will be affected considering I started my application January 2011. It is so unfair that inefficiency on CNO side affected us since they continuously change their rules. I feel so disappointed in the registration process. Another thing, they are not consistent with their evaluation. I have a couple of friends same school, credentials and experience. They have successfully taken the exam. The only difference is the year we started our application. The registration time frame is not uniform as well. Anyway, the new update on my side Is the requested me to take OSCE this coming MArch.
  6. Hi guppawan, I'm IEN from Phil. Today I just received letter from CNO informing to go through OSCE. I guess, our scenario is the same. My dilemma is how to prepare for this exam. Are there any materials available that we can review before the test? I have to take the exam by march 27. Any IEN around who can help us or enlighten what we have to do. Or who successfully finished this exam. By the way I am from Ontario.
