  1. LeslieJoy....I am so so glad that you posted about the VA issue. I have had the same problem. Do you answer the three questions and then it says login fail? I called both the school an d the lady who hadled our background session and she has yet to return my message. If I hear anything I will let you know.
  2. I found my book list on the inside.uthscsa.edu site wher you register for classes..however cyclical has a pretty extensive list posted on the previous post. The orientation packet that they emailed to us a while back said that we should obtain our parking passes early and didn't say anything about them sending us one so I am planning on having to park in Zone 5 . If you don't have a pass I think you can just park in the visitors until you get your pass. See you all on Wednesday!!!
  3. Leslie Joy... I found most that matched closely to the discription and then i checked the list when i got them with the page numbers and stuff from the recommened readings from the orientation packet. Some things did not match EXACTLY as the description but when i got them they were the ones specified. I think there might be some errors. I took my chances. The one with the corrected cd did not specify that it was corrected but it was the newest edition. there were a couple that i could not find on amazon at all so i ordered online through the bookstore and got them used. I hope that helps. I pressed my luck and I think it is going to work out. Happy Hunting!
  4. I was told from another student we also need pen lights.
  5. Do some people wear their scrubs on thursday as well even though it is not required? And because I am curious...what kind of shoes are we required to wear in the skills lab?
  6. I have been told by other students that you can wear any type or color of scrub that you want for monday and friday and you have to wear black pants for clinicals and we can by the tops at orientation or the heart to heart event (they are burnt orange). They didn't say anything about specifics in color of the stethoscopes. Mines blue;) I would recommend shopping online for scrubs cause they have a lot of great deals. There is also a scrub outlet at San Marcos and in New Braunsfels...and all the regular priced places around school. I got my books on amazon and saved a ton. Hope it helps.
  7. Thansk for the advice. Just wanted to double check it was casual and no suits required;).
  8. there are some ads for roomates and places to rent on the uthscsa portal under classified ads. Good Lcuk Hunting.
  9. azn....also really random .. and i am sure we will talk about this in orientation but are there enough lockers for everyone and they are bring your own lock correct? Also how formal is orientation. Obviously i won't becoming in summer attire but should we dress buisness casual or just casual?
  10. Cyclical...don't know if the cd is corrected but I got the newer one that you had listed..isbn 9780323067843 and the chapters and pages match the tentative schedule they sent out last week if that helps. I also agree that better safe then sorry is the best way to play..life;) When i went to school in california for nursing i had a professor who knew a student who went out drinking after his last final of nursing school and got arrested or a dui and could not sit for the boards for like 5 years. hope everyone has a super great holiday beofre the madness in three weeks!:)
  11. cyclical... tonight i will check to see if the version i bought on amazon matches the topics and pages that the calendar listrs.
  12. I got the book from the first link and when i got it seems to be just like the discription. Its the newer version so I went the safe route. There are only a couple I could not find on amazon and i had to order through the school.
  13. Yay Kristy! Glad you made it safely. I think getting a badge was one of the best parts! It made everything feel more official.
  14. Good luck everyone still taking classes on your finals! I just had my first one today and my last one on Thurdays.
  15. I got the dreaded zone 5! They already have a waitlist for zone 4...but i am number 41 so it shouldn't be to horrible. Just letting you know in case you were able to make it down there before orientation. Also Mar4... do you have to pay for the shuttle from zone 5 to the school. Only 30 days till school!
  16. Yay Kristy! Hope everyone else has had the same luck with getting that fixed. Anyone still on for coffee???
  17. I think what I enjoyed the most was seeing all the areas that we have access to. It also opened my eyes to the parking situation in which i think they said it could take about a hour to get onto campus from the zone 4 lot! I also got my books in the mail today and they are quite a load! Wait till you see the med surg book. That is why I was glad to know that we had day lockers. We provide the locks right?
  18. I have had quite some time trying to locate those H1N1 shots but i did see that the Quality urgent care right outside 1604 on 281 they have a sign that states that they still have shots avaliable if anyone is looking to do that early. Also, the city is giving flu shots at the clinic downtown and on west/blanco for the seasonal. Flu.gov will help you keep track of places that open up with the H1N1 vaccination. The school said they will be getting some in Jan. as well. Just sharing what I found out. Good luck to those trying to clear those holds,
  19. Future.... so glad i got to meet you tonight. It went really late. we didn't end until 7. To everyone who didn't make it make sure you get your h1n1 and seasonal flu shot and get the form to fill out because clinicals will/may require this. Someone mentioned that walgreens is making appointments so check your local walgreens. See you all very soon:)
  20. Normally the hair is a unique selling point. I will now be wearing a pink/orange scarf to avoid any confusion;)
  21. I did a practice exam offered by the site my school used for the actual exam and it was SUPER helpful and I also loved the kaplan nursing exam buck. Just practice those style of questions and you will do great!
  22. I am got my book list from the school and went straight to amazon. i was able to get almost all my books new becuase of their standard discount and get free shipping and I cut the cost in about half from what the used price at my school would have been. Also I went with some sellers that were cheaper then amazon but offered new shrinked wrapped books. Good luck.
  23. Okay...so about identifying. I don't know if we all want to wear a certain color or something, so i thought it would just be easier to describe me:) I wear glasses and I have long curly blond hair. You will probably be able to find me unless we have a ton of other curly headed blondes this semester;) I think I will probably be wearing a black turtle neck. Any other ideas on how i can find you guys? See you later!
  24. ok...that is what it normally costs. I have a laser printing at my husbnads buisness it is just not as convient. This gives me some idea. thanks again for the advice. Are they good about posting them early?
