  1. Thanks! I have spoken with his physician and they are in process now.
  2. In an independent living facility I am contracted (through another company) with clients for medication assistance. We have a man who had a psych eval done 3-30-04 and he was diagnosed with delusions and paranoia. He attempted to hit a staff member yesterday and I have called everyone I can think of to help and I am Not getting any assistance. He has a nephew several hours away and he doesn't want to help because he was POA in the past and it was dissolved by the court. The patient has a history of physical violence from a nursing home stay when he had a psychotic episode several years ago. He has a home but I am told it is condemeable, due to rats and holes in the floor etc. Any advice is appreciated. I have contacted Adult Protective Services, local psych hospitals, our local crisis teams etc without success.
  3. I work for a subsidiary of the home health/hospice agency, called medical staffing resources. It is a separate company, but with the new regs in TN you can not do baths without either being home health or have a PCSSA license. If you have the PCSSA license you can't do any type of medication assistance. This is why we are questioning private pay through home health. Thanks for all of the replies.
  4. Thanks renerian, We are concerned about Medicare and like kind services. Medicare states that you must charge an individual the same amount you charge them for like kind services, bathing, med assistance etc. If you have any info on this I would greatly appreciate it.
  5. I am in Tennessee, and an office I know of has an EMT and trained her(if you want to call it training), they have one LPN , and the other girl is just someone they trained without any medical background. I was very afraid when I was there, they would come and get me to give childrens injections and got upset when I wouldn't give the injection they had drawn up. I love nursing and it scares me to think that the law will allow anyone to give medictions, preform procedures, and inform patients about what they need to do as far as health care. It falls back on the MD, if they are good then usually they will adequately train their staff regardless of licensure.
  6. My company has decided they want me to possibly work under my own license like an independent contractor. I carry liability insurance but i'm not sure this is smart. In TN in order to provide personal care you have to have a Personal Care support service license, which will not allow for mediction assistance. It is an independent living facility but the company I work for is providing private pay services such as med assistance, baths, etc. since the above license has been put in place, we have a problem. Anyone have any ideas. All are appreciated. :stone
  7. My employer is considering private pay private duty through the home health agency she owns. How does private duty work when it is through home health agencies? :uhoh21:
  8. mjlrn97, thanks so much for your help. I feel the same way.
  9. My company is looking to open an ALF having 20 units. Our state doesn't require a nurse to be on site 24hours/day, just wondering what other facilities do? If someone falls does the person who is working call the nurse on call or do they assess for visible injuries or c/o pain and then determine if a 911 call is necessary? In my mind the nurse will have to drive in to make the assessment, I would never make an assessment over the telephone?
