I am a foreign nurse who recently passed my NCLEX exam, but now faces a difficult situation due to recent IRS law changes. The RN Board tells me that the only remaining information I need to provide is a SSN or ITIN (Indiv. Tax ID) in order to receive my RN license. However, IRS will no longer issue ITINs without me filing taxes. But how can I work and file taxes without a RN license? Similarly, I cannot get a SSN unless I have sponsorship from a hospital, but how can I interview for jobs without a license? I have contacted the BRN about this conflict, but they don't yet know what to do... Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there hospitals willing to interview me given my situation? I can provide the letter from BRN showing that I have passed my exam and met other requirements for a RN license. I have 2+ years of ICU experience, but am willing to work in other fields as a staff RN as well. Thank you!!!
